I'm in the market for my first small tractor. I will use it primarily for landscaping, various utility duty, and snow removal on my 2 acre farm. The BX23 looks like exactly the right machine. I see several used ones for sale in the want-ads in my area priced $2 – 3k below new, which seems about right. My question to BX23 owners is what I should look out for on a used machine. I’ve read most of the posts on these boards and there are remarkably few issues reported on the BX23. Any particular trouble spots to watch out for? While tractors are new to me I’m a gear-head at heart and not afraid of anything mechanical – just want to know what I might be in for.
Thanks,
John

I'd check to make sure the differential lock worked smooth. I've heard reports of guys riding them with their left foot and causing problems. If they are low hours ie. 300 or less and look good I would'nt worry too much its just broke in good at this many hours. I've worked mine over 200 hours in six months and not had any problems. If I had to do over i'd buy used and save the 2 or 3 thousand. When working the BX23 keep your seat belt on and the rpms up to 2700 or better and it will amaze you at its power. ....

=============
You will spend the 2 or 3 thousand on interest on the used one so you don't save anything in fact you loose as you pay the new price or more and get a used tractor without a warranty.

Mr. Brown: Do you even re-read the posts you put up to see that your HTML (or whatever) script doesn't work here??
Perhaps Mr. Spyder doen't need the financing options and is paying cash. Then the $2-3K savings is well worth it. If there is any warranty left on the unit, it will transfer, or additional used warranty can be purchased. ....

It does if you copy and past it into the browser.
If he pays cash and looses 3 or 4K that he could have earned on the money he is still paying more for the used unit.
