I would like to build my own 3 point custom weight box. I have a 4300 with cat 1. Can anyone tell me the specific dimensions on the 3 holes on my 3 point. I think the 2 sides are 13/16th and the top is 3/4. Also what kind on distance should by top hookup be from a line between 2 side hook ups. Any help much appreciated. I have checked out a couple of tractor hacker sites, all with GREAT pictures of stuff they have done to THEIR tractors, but no specifics.Thank you in advance

I've made several 3-point pcs for my 755. side to side is 26" then attach your pins to your box. -- height from center of bottom pins to center of top pin is 18" If you have any 3-point equipment go & measure them to make sure your final product will come out exacty like you want it. good luck ....

I would recommend you purchase the Cat I pins rather than make them. You can get them from Tractor Supply, Farm and Fleet, or your dealer. These pins are hardened which you need. With the ballast box on the ground, locate lower pins about a foot or so above ground. Check with tractor lift arms lowered--you don't want the box off the ground with the hitch in lowest position. When using the box, raise it only high enough to get adequate ground clearance. Try to keep it as low as possible to keep the overall center of gravity of tractor, box, and loader low for stability. ....

Before you make a weight box consider using a box blade. You get weight and a useful tool. ....

Jim, I made a box out of 3/4" plywood, 24" wide, 24" long and 26" deep- inside diam. Using 2x4"'s to reinforce the outside corners. I went to my local JD dealer and asked if he had any old 3pt equipment out back just laying around. He did, an old finish mower, I asked him if I could buy the 3pt part of it. He sold it to me for $20. I removed it and took it home. Now all I had to do was put it in place in the box before I had it filled with cement. I guessed about where the pins needed to come out the side, (just back your tractor up to the box and guess-ta-met. I then marked the area and drilled 3/4 for the pin holes and on the inside of the box I counter-sunk a hole 1 3/8" for the larger part of the pin, (the ring). I put the pins in place, placed the 3pt bars over the threaded part of the pins on the inside of the box, made a washer for each side by cutting off a 1" piece of H/D pipe. I then thighten the nuts. The 3pt bracket I had, had a swing arm on the 3rd, (upper) point. I leaned the hole bracket toward the rear of the box until the swing arm (in the Erect postion) would be in-line (vertically) with the lower pins, I nailed a small board to keep every thing in place and took the box to the local cement plant and got it filled (free) but they may charge a few $$. Once the cement was set 3-days or so, I loaded my tractor on the trailer and went where the box was, ripped off the sides, hooked it the the tractor and went home. If you have any questions e-mail me.David ....
