About a week and a half ago I posted a little note here about my closest JD dealer (here in Columbia, SC) having a very nice, cherry '98 2wd JD 770 with only 28 hours on it for $9000. Well, I went by there yesterday to get a little clamp-on rain cap to put on my 750's exhaust pipe (some of you may remember that little thread I started about those) and noticed right off that the 770 was gone. After I got my part (which was $10 btw) I asked a salesman what happened to the 770. He said they sold it yesterday (Tuesday). A guy from Wilmington, NC called about it on Monday. This guy left Wilmington at 6:30am Tues. and got to Palmetto Lawn and Leisure around 10:30am. He looked at it and talked to them for about FOUR hours. He wound up buying it and a trailer to carry it back on! The dealer asked him how he found out about it. He said he read about it on the internet! The salesman said they had no idea how it got put on there. I told him I was responsible for it and they should give me a commission. He went into a poormouth spiel and said they made nothing off it. Yeah, right. Somebody in Wilmington, NC (and you know who you are) owes me a finders fee!!! You can send it to my email address. ;-) Actually, I hope you enjoy your shiny new tractor. Glad I was able to get you hooked up with it. I would have loved to have gotten it myself. So, let us know how you like it....Keith

Most dealers just don't get the internet. You have to drop a brick on them to get their attention. The only one I know of that has got the idea is Steve Carver. When you get your commission check just send me my 20% cut for running the board! OK :) ....

OK!! As soon as I get my check, I will forward your 20% cut to you. Don't hold your breath though, cause I'm sure not going to hold mine. You're right about alot of the dealers not taking advantage of the 'net. It's real and it's here to stay. Thanks for maintaining the CTB board, though. I really enjoy it! Will a complement suffice in lieu of a check?? ;-) Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!! I will probably celebrate Monday by riding my JD 750! ....

Thanks for the posting. I live in Elon College N.C. The 770 runs great.I had been looking for a 770 or 790 for several weeks when I called Columbia from Carolina Beach near Wilmington and found that thetractor had not been sold. I watch this board and Machinery Forumregularly for advice/tips. I find it extremely useful. ....
