Those of you who have been here for a while might remember my buddy Mike from Alaska.
I got word this morning that he died Dec. 10th of complications from brain cancer.
He had not posted for some time while fighting lung cancer into remission and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.
He was good folks and will be missed.

I liked to hear him talk about his flying exploits and encouraged him to write about them. I had noticed that he hadn't posted very much lately. I suppose he was not the type to talk about his health problems. Hopefully that new motorcycle he bought a year or so ago gave him some relief from them.

That really sucks, all pilots share a special bond, even if they've never met in person.
Until you've flown you just can't understand the feeling, pilot's even jokingly say that every other pilot is a friend of their's, some of them we just haven't met yet.
I know that 'scary' feeling you mention all too well..... ....

(Translation "Mike, sleep well, rest in peace and the grace of God be with you until we meet again. Have a good journey." a traditional toast given at wakes, we don't believe we lose friends, but that we will see them again, believed to have come from the intermingling of Irish & Viking cultures.)
I'll hoist a glass of fine Irish Whiskey in his honour after dinner. ....

I remeber his posts and photos. But I am sad to say I didn't know him well. On the plus side it looks like he enjoyed life. A good memorial to him would be for all of us remember to enjoy life while we live it. You never know when it will be your turn to cross into the next adventure. ....

What a shame...very sad. As others have said, it seemed like he lived a good life, largely full of those things which brought him happiness--a good lesson for those of us still living here on earth. I didn't know him, but he and I had corresponded a few times about tractor stuff. He seemed like a very giving person. He will be missed here, and in many other places, I'm sure. Thanks for the update Mark. ....
