 Grapple Control on a TC35

Rear remotes vs W.R. long-Electric 3Rd valve kit for a Grapple on tc35 W/16LA FEL? The long kit has a hand grip with a rocker switch on the loader control so you don't have to move your hand as you would have to do useing the rear remote contol. The price is about the same ($500.00). Just like sum feed back on it.

 Grapple Control on a TC35

I can't vouch for either of these controls but I'd love to have a joystick mounted control for my grapple. Taking your hands off the stick to operate another control slows down operation.

With an electrically operated divertor valve or two you could easily add a second two-way circuit to an existing joystick. It is basically an electrically operated valve, it normally stays in one position, but when you put 12 volts to it, it diverts the fluid flow to a second path.

You could add it to the existing curl circuit such that when you flip the switch, the bucket doesn't curl, the grapple moves instead.

Our large excavator works this way. When a switch is off the curl circuit operates normally, flip the switch and the same motion now operates a hydraulic thumb instead of rotating the bucket.

Best of luck.

mtullis, I have the diverter solenoid valve I think Murf was speaking of that operates my grapple and I love it. I have the 12V button mounted on my loader stick and when pressed it diverts the dump/curl to the grapple open/close, very handy. I have a neighbor that has the same type grapple and his is operated by way of the 3rd selective control valve, an additional control lever and is a PITA to use (slows things down).

By reading the W.R. Long site it looks like that diverter allows all six operations (dump, curl, open, close, lift and lower) at the same time which would be even better. I do wonder how much it would slow down the hydraulics on these smaller machines.

David

Thinks for the info for now I'm going to work it off the rear remotes, and do a upgrade later to ele kit. So I guess I like both. But I would like to hear form someone that has the kit or has used it before.

I used a manual diverter valve on the bucket curl control for my ATI grapple, and it was a real PITA!!! I installed a Fasse valve set up, and boy is it sweet. It makes working the bucket and grapple much easier, as you when you switch between the two you can almost get both functions working together, bucket curl and grapple closing. Not at the same time of course. I really like the Fasse cause it has both a momentary button and a rocker switch. The kits are pricey, but IMHO worth it if you're planning on doing a lot of grapple work.

I've used the W. R. Long electric over hydraulic valve kit and it works great. Yes it does share the fluid with the up/down and dump/curl function. And yes it does slow down when you use all three functions at the same time.

Actually I work for W. R. Long and I'm the one who designs these kits. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Nelson
