Looking to buy a ~48" tiller for my 2210. Deere suggests the Deere 647 or the Frontier RT1140-1150/RT1240-1250 series. I have also look into the Woods GTC-52. The King Kutter is value priced and well acclaimed by owners. But at 600lbs vs ~400lbs for the others, it may be too heavy. Or is that irrelevant? The 2210 hitch is a Limited Cat 1 (700lbs) Input? Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks

I have a LandPride RTA1050 tiller that flat works-out great. It's a Cat 1, 6 tine, slip-clutch, 50 inch width, weighing in at 385 pounds according to the manual. It may be a bit pricey (I paid $1750), but it is amazing in what it goes through. It's a keeper. ....

About 6 weeks ago I bought the Woods GTC 52 for my JD 2210. It works GREAT! Only thing I had to do was cut an inch off each side of the PTO shaft as it is too long.

The unit runs very quietly to my surprise. I never had one before and figured they'd make noise - not so. Weight is not a problem at all.

I've only tilled some heavy soil around the house so far. My big landscaping project begins in two weeks with a new lawn.

I'm very happy with the Woods quality and price (they make Frontier for JD I believe) - I paid $1300 for mine in Central Wisconsin. ....

I came to the conclusion that the weight ratings on sub-cut three point hitches are not based on their actual hydraulic lift capacities, but rather on how much weight those small rear tires can carry in total.

My BX could easily lift nearly twice the rated weight, but the rear tires would look like they were going to pop. ....

My TZ24DA is rated 700lb lift capacity and I believe it will handle more. Recently I moved 20' sections of 8" ductile iron pipe that weigh about 640lbs. The lift handled the weight with no effort, but the front end was getting light.

With a couple hunderd pounds of suitcase weights, I feel this lift would handle more. I bet the published lift capacity has at least a 1.5 safety margin. ....
