 4 in 1 bucket on a compact

I have a JD 755 w/ 70 loader. Has anyone ever put a 4 in 1 bucket on it? Maybe a more general question is why aren't they available - I certainly could use it for yard work, I would have thought that others would feel the same.

I have the same brand of 4-in-1 bucket on my Kubota L4310 HST that Steve Carver sells. I recently traded an L3600 GST in on the 4310, but I kept the bucket.I wouldn't be without one, personally. I think they're great. Every time I work on a different type of project, I find new uses for it.If you do get one, consider the electric valve option. It's an electric diverter valve that uses a thumb-operated pushbutton that replaces the grip on your loader joystick. When you push the button, rolling back (left on mine) closes the jaws, and dumping (right on mine) opens it. This way, you don't need two hands to operate it. When you want to pick up loose material, like mulch, you just push the button, pull the lever toward you and when the jaws start to lift the bucket a little and you need to roll back, just let go of the button momentarily. One caution: If your loader uses a regenerative dump circuit, it won't work without modification. If you need help with this, let me know. It's too complicated to go into unnecessarily, but I'll be glad to help if you need it.Anyway, yes, they exist, and yes, they do work well.

Thanks for the input. Would you please educate me - what is a regenerative dump circuit? I am not familiar with the Kubota line - what size machines are the 3600 and 4310? My machine is a JD 755 - 20hp HST. Do you think the bucket would work well on it? Would it be a jury rig to put it on a JD?thanks again.

A regenerative circuit is one where both ends of the cylinder are pressurized at the same time. It doesn't sound at first like this would work, but what happens is this: When both ends are pressurized, the pressures in both ends of the cylinder are high, but the blind end of the cylinder, the one without the rod in it, generates more force, so the cylinder moves in that direction, i.e. it lengthens. The fluid coming out of the rod end is then regenerated back into the blind end, causing the total fluid flow rate to be greater than the maximum generated by the pump (or, technically, the amount allowed to the cylinder by the valve) by the amount displaced by the difference in force generated by the pressure in both sides, typically 40% or so. So, the net effect is that your dump cycle is about 40% faster than the roll-back time. This is one way to tell if your loader has such a regenerative valve, if your manual doesn't say. The trade-off is that the force generated in the dump cycle is significantly reduced, but this usually isn't a problem, since the valve is really "holding back" the dump process, since gravity is trying to dump the bucket anyway. I hope this helps.
