Where can I find a fair priced TC33D starter

Man! The NH dealer wants $460 plus shipping for a new starter. There has got to be a fair-priced (read: cheap) dealer selling these units--even rebuilt ones on the web are nearly $400 (blue dealer wants $289).
Any ideas guys?

If you can afford a couple of days of downtime you might call around and see if you can get it rebuilt locally for less.

Where can I find a fair priced TC33D starter

I had the same problem but with a JD, $600.00 for New. I couldn't at that time afford too be down, so I paid. Found out later I could have got the same starter New for $237.00 plus S&H, MAN was I P.O.ed. Ended up buying the part I needed to rebuild the original for a Third of what JD wanted also. SEE this site first http://www.dixie-electric.com/catalog/Cross%20reference%20OEM%202005.pdf

Then see the link below to find a dealer near you. I dealt with a business in N.H. at the time. If they have the Starters for JD they should have Ford/NH

I'd be looking for a local starter repair shop, yes you will be down till it gets looked at but it might just be an individual part in the starter is the problem and it might be cheaper in the long run.

If your going to make it, be prepared to spend it! I'll have to check our prices on Monday for that starter. You got me thinking.

Wellp---drove 75 miles today only to find out the starter was okay. Seems the dealer back home replaced my starter back in '02 when it had only 20 hours on it not with a new, off-the-shelf part but a rebuilt one! But the technican showed me it was till in great working order, but he repalced the solenoid anyway ($50) since I asked him as was already there just in case that was the problem.

Now the control module is suspect, since the battery is relatively new and is the gell-cell type.

This may sound stupid but I replaced the starter in my truck because everything went dead when I turned the key. Thought for sure it was a short in the starter motor. Turned out to be a bad battery. If it helps a new starter for my Skidoo is $375. Hope that helped someone / anyone.

Earthworks N>H> skids have numorus spots in the wiring that cause the units not to start. Everything has to go thru the overhead dash panel to start them and we've found several of those being bad. Could it be the seat switch on the simple side?

Art it was the NH tractor not the skid steer that had what I thought was the starter problem. I agree the skid steers would be a problem to figure out with all the wiring conditions. I did have seat switch issue which turned out to be the actual wire connector and not the switch itself. But I made lemonade from lemons and used a remote swicth that jumps the seat switch and that becomes a theft deterernt as the instrument panel will light up but won't start.
