I recently purchased a Massey 245, and the 3pt lift will go up and down, but when I hook it up to something, it will not lift it. Not sure just how to correct the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try this.. drain hydraulic fluid from transmission and rear end. add 5 gallons of diesel flue start and let run about 3 minutes engage PTO and then drain and refill with new Hydraulic fluid, This may help or not but well worth a try.
Pull stick out of Transmission case on side of tractor if the fluid looks milky then do as I told you. It may have had water in Transmission and lift. ....

No water, oil looks real good tried and still does same thing. Wonder if the pump relief valve could be bad or need adjusting? I saw something on line about replacing or adjusting the relief valve without taking the pump out of the tractor. But I can't find it again, and am not sure if it would work on the 245. ....

Yes it was full of fluid. Do you know how to get to the Hyd. pump and the relief valve without pulling the top off the transmission? If that is possible with this tractor. ....

No I don't but if you can get a shop manual or talk to a M-F Dealer and ask them if they would give you a printout of how to do that , I am sure they will, I have ask for fords ,John Deere and Massey, If I can't get a repair manual.
You might can get Manual on E-bay, would be cheaper then a Dealer or Tractor point at top of this page. ....

Mike no idea if this could be your issue but:

Does this tractor have draft and position controls? If so see if the draft is preventing the lift from raising. Just try both controls. The draft could be set where it will not lift the weight you have on the lift. ....

It does have Draft Control I have tried it both at the bottom and the top. I have another MF, and have used the Draft Control before. I keep it at the top, to get the other lever to raise and lower the arms. They will go up and down fine, accept when you put weight on them. I can even stand on the arms and mash them down. It is harder to mash them down with the engine at a higher RPM, but I can still mash them down. I thought If I could adjust the relief valve on the pump without pulling the pump maybe I could increase the pressure and that would help. ....

Sense the pump in in the transmission, are you talking about pump seals, or lift seals? And do you know of video or something I can look at to see just how to replace the seals you are talking about?

Thanks ....

On a Ford 8N that I worked on,
something had bounced the lift bad. The rod that went into the piston punched out the end. The rod would plug the hole and the lift went up and down but had no power.
I had to pull the top off the trans and yank the piston.
I replaced with a new on that used an O ring.
Check that if you end up pulling the top off the trans.
