IS MY TEMP GUAGE WORKING CORRECTLY

yes plugger, i'm still alive and i'm still as ignorant about my tractors temperature guage response as i was before. i haven't had much opportunity to use my tractor because of the s***** weather we've had in south texas. It's rained every week or every other week for months! I know, i need some cheese with that whine. Anyway, hopefully i'll be able to get into my pastures soon & put the tractor to work & then i'll see what the temp guage does. Until then, i watch it rain (thunderstorms forcast for Sat)

I can send you some snow there Mark, we got a little Sunday night and they're saying we'll get a little more again this Sunday night.

I'm going to have to start burning semi-druy wood in the fireplace if spring doesn't arrive soon.

Best of luck.

We are in year seven of a regional drought. We had a dust storm two days ago, so intense the DOT shut down several highways.

My well is still producing 15 GPM..... some of my neighbors are not so lucky.

You must be too far from Carson City, all that hot air would surely cause some rain when it got to higher elevations.

I am REALLY spoiled that way, I am in the bottom of a very wide sandy river valley, 15' below my lawn is the permanent ground-water table, a 2" sandpoint and an old piston pump will produce well over 100 gpm, which is the pump's capacity.

Best of luck.

We're lucky, the neighbors a thousand feet down the road aren't. Last year after a long dry spell they were down to 1-2 gpm. Our 212 foot well was still producing 15 gpm and the water level was still 100 feet above the pump. Go figure.

Well, this thread is sort of wandering. Sorry, Plugger, I don't have any advice to give on your temp gauge. Wish I did.

IS MY TEMP GUAGE WORKING CORRECTLY

Hello Barnee, Glad to hear everything is ok with you (except the weather) and that your still on the board. I just put 54 hrs on mine and need to service. When I go to buy filters and oil I'll have to ask the dealer whats up with that temp. guauge. It's going to be a few weeks though because I'am working 7 days 12 hrs. we have had rainy and cold weather here.

IS MY TEMP GUAGE WORKING CORRECTLY

We had quite a discussion about whether a proper gauge should register mid-range at ordinary operating temps or barely move. Still don't understand why a gauge wouldn't be designed to read mid-range so abnormal cold as well as hot temps could be detected. The gauges on some tractors apparently just don't come off the cold peg much unless they're very hot.

One way of sorting it out might be just be watching the exhaust. My Ford makes a bit of gray smoke, especially when first accelerating, when it's cold. The smoke diminishes to just a puff during acceleration after the engine is warm. Other engines may be 'more smokeless' but if that's the way the engine works it's a pretty good indication that the engine is coming up to normal operating temp. If the upper rad hose is noticeable warm after a few minutes of operation it may indicate that the thermostat is stuck open.
