Go BottomL2900 GST Key won t shut off engine

I have an L2900 GST and the key will not shut off engine when turned to the Off position. I can stop the motor by pulling the kill knob.
How do I check if I need an new ignition switch?
What else could be causing this and how do I check?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Working off of poor memory here but there has to be a solenoid the power opens for the fuel. It sounds like it is for some reason not closing when you switch it off. You should be able to find it following the wire from the switch or just tracing the fuel line. My guess is it is around the injector pump. It sounds to me like something is holding it open. Depending on linkage it could be a piece of trash such as a stick or guess something inside of it. ....
