Hi Art, I am having problems finding new hydraulic caps for my loader, I have a 2003 bx2200/la211 loader, my dealer has ordered the following caps/plugs, 7J245-66440,7J245-66410, 7J245-66430, 7J245-66420, 7J245-66340, 7J245-66310, 7J245-66320, 7J245-66330, 75536-66430, 75536-66430, the problem is that all of these are way to big for the fittings on my loader! I have also been talking to cathy at kubota in columbus, no one can figure out whats going on , all the pieces I have recieved say 1/4", but they are way to big!, did they make odd ball size connectors on my tractor ?Craig.

Craig, by 'caps' do you mean the dust covers that keep them clean when disconnected? Or do you mean the fitting itself?
I think you mean dust caps, a mere Google of a few of those parts brings up "Cap, Dust".
If so you should be able to get them at any hydraulic supply place as well as places like Northern, TSC, etc. Do yourself a favour too, get the black rubber ones instead of the hard clear(ish) plastic ones, they last a lot longer and are easier to use in cold weather.
FYI, we don't use them anyways, all we do is use scraps of plastic over the ends held in place with electrical tape. The caps lead a short life even if you're careful with them. I've also seen people who don't even cover them, they just use WD-40 or such to blast it clean before use each time.
Best of luck. ....

Ok Craig, now we're getting closer to a solution, now the next question is, do you need the cap for the male side, or the female side, or both?
The reason I ask is, I ran across a situation that sounds a lot like yours last year, a friend of my Dad's had bought a little CUT and was having the same problem you are now. He bought several dust caps only too find they were all too big.
The solution was obvious once I saw the machine and dust cap, he was trying to put the cap that is supposed to cover the male fitting, into the female fitting to close the hole up when not in use. It was obviously too big to go in, despite the fact it was the right size according to the label, a 1/4".
I can't recall ever seeing a fitting smaller than 1/4" on a CUT or even sub-CUT, but they do make a 1/8" size that is usually only found on things like snowplows and such that only require very little flow.
Best of luck. ....

Craig, the common way those fittings are referred to is by gender, for obvious reasons, the part you plug in is called the 'male' and the part it goes into is the 'female' end.
Since this is a G-rated board we'll leave it at that. LOL
It sounds like you have 1/8" fittings if the 1/4" caps are 'super-sized' compared to yours.
Considering where you're located (snow country) I'd try any good hydraulics shop or possibly a place that deals in snow plows.
Best of luck. ....

Murt I just got a call back from my dealer that talked to kubota ,they said the early bx tractors has smaller fittings! And the bad news is that the caps/plugs are no longer made, the newer tractors use the 1/4", so your tip about the plow fittings may come in handy, thanks , Craig. ....

Craig, if it's going to be an ongoing problem, and / or you have many implements that use hydraulic power, you might just be better to change all the fittings to a more common (1/4") fitting and be done with it.
I suspect what the dealer was really saying was that Kubota no longer sell those parts, not that they don't exist period.
Bear in mind, you have the same issue if and when one of those fittings themselves fail and need to be replaced too.
As I said, I believe what you are looking for is a 1/8" fitting. Any good hydraulic supply place, many of which have a website you can order from, will have those fittings if it is a 1/8" fitting, they just aren't common is all.
Best of luck.

Your right they no longer sell the parts, I looked at my air compressor when I went home for lunch, they look to be the same size, maybe I will change them over to 1/4" anyway. ....

I see that you have some other suggestions as to how to cover them. For the males we can get them through another source same vendor as Kubota and they are about 2.00 apiece. ....

Murf, You are the thunder when it comes to inovative ideas!
I just happen to have a bx2200 out front so it was easy to get the name off the cap to see who built it and went backwards. I didn't even check the parts dept! ....
