I am looking to buy a DK35 with a FEL, tiller, mower, etc., etc. One item that I am not sure about is the addition of the creeper gear kit. What type of work would benefit from this gearing? I am guessing that if were to be doing a lot of tilling, they might be useful. Anything else? Thanks!

Creeper gear could be very useful if you are going to till!
I did not get creeper gear with my DK35,and when tilling full depth in untilled soil an extra lower gear would help. ....

Also Chuck,
The Kioti grill guards are nice.
And hydraulic remotes for a hydraulic top link come in handy.
Good luck on the Kioti if you do buy a DK.
I got a DK 35 early this year and highly recommend them.Mine has been great !! ....

Wolbert,

Thanks for the info. This will be my first tractor, so I have a lot to learn. I will add the grill guard to my list of accessories. About the hydraulic top link, what sort of advantage is there in having one. I will certainly consider this if it saves some work or makes things work smoother! ....

The hydraulic remotes can be added to the tractor when you order it.
It is hydraulics run to the back of the tractor with quick couplers at the end.
They can be used to run hydraulic attachments (backhoe, hydraulic top link, log splitter, etc.)
If I remember right the grill guard was around $160 and the remotes around $260.

My Ford 1710 with a 12 x 4 TX has a ground speed about .8 mph in 1st @ pto rpm with ag tires. It's probably a bit less with my turfs. I don't till with the tractor, but I do sit and chew sometimes with my walk behind. I also could use a slower speed rarely when taking a snow blower through high drifts. The most obscure use for a creeper that I've heard is pulling up deep well pumps.

I believe that a creeper kit is available from NH for my 1710 as an add-on option. A creeper might be handy but I'd expect the price to deter my interest.

I think that most creepers are underdrive units of around 6 or 7 to 1 ratios. They don't just provide an extra lower gear, they provide an entire new set of gear ratios. I think they've been around for years and are probably what were called torque multipliers on old IH's.

Creeper would be good for anything you'd need to pull hard and slow.

Mark,

Tony is on his way out...we decide next month between Fran Ulmer, the current Lt. Gov., and Sen. Murkowski. Such choices! I'd rather think about my new tractor! ....

I think Frank will be the man. Even though the bush votes as a democratic block, I am not sure rural Alaska is ready for a female gov. Is Tony swapping jobs with Frank?
You're right, tractors are more fun. Is it coming to you or are you going outside to get it? ....

When I get ready to buy, I will give Totem Equipment in Anchorage a try. I have already contacted them to see what they had in stock. All they had was a LB1914. I'm not sure how many units they move or how long they have been handling Kioti. If their quote is too high, I will start shopping around Seattle and Portland. I don't know if there are any deals there. Too bad that the dealers on the web with the best prices seem to be mostly east of the Mississippi. I'll just have to wait and see what happens to the business deal that I am working on and then get serious about getting my equipment. ....
