On my John Deere 4400 Tractor when warm the hydraulics start to hiccup every 20 seconds or so. It does not effect performance.

Any ideas on what might be causing it?

(Low oil level, bad seals?)

If it were mine the first thing I'd be checking is the hydraulic inline metal screen filter that is located
In the input fitting to the rockshaft control valve.

I just had to tear my 4300 down and replace the rockshaft control valve and install the
upgrade that is New lines and removable filter because the original blew out of the fitting and lodged in the roxkshadt control valve which is unserviceable. Causing the hydraulics to do as you described. ....

Before you do that however find a service manual for your tractor and run the tests
For your hydraulics listed in the manual. It will show you based on results where to start.

Again if test results show faulty rockshaft control valve, odds are it's the screen that
got blown into the rockshaft control valve ....
