 John Deere 1050

I have a John Deere 1050 in good shape. I bought it missing the steering wheel cap. I ordered a replacement from a JD dealer but it does not fit. The cap is to big for the openning in the steering wheel. The parts book shows only one cap made for the 1050. The steering wheel looks orginal. Would anyone owning a 1050 be able to get a back side diameter measurement off their 1050 cap and post that measurement in response to this message. That may confirm as to whether the steering wheel is OEM or a replacement. Thanks

Tim, did you verify the steering wheel cap part # ? Just wanted to follow up and see if you resolved the problem. Let us know what the final call was.

Hi Chief
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes that was the part # I purchased from the John Deere dealer. They double checked the actual part to make sure the wrong cap was not missed packaged. I guess I must have an after market wheel although it does not look like it. Are there after market suppliers of caps whereby if I gave them the inside diameter of the wheel they could match a cap? Any help much appreciated.

Tim in Alberta

Looks like that is probably the case. Can you modify the cap to fit on your current steering wheel? Either that or see if you can find a wheel in a tractor junk yard and install it.

Any chance you're still sitting on that cap?

Thanks for letting me in!
Hey, sometime long shots come in. Not for me, but I do hear they come in
nonetheless. I've been hunting for one for a while and this came up, but I did find a used one that'll work.
