Hi, the warm weather is back and so I am once again thinking of the tractor.

I have a chance to pick up a used JD 261 5 foot grooming mower to pull behind my JD790. I have some tight areas so a 5' or at tops 6' is what I need. It appears to be in good shape (some surface rust no dents or abuse) The dealer wants $500 and I think that is a good price. I looked online and I think JD wants $2000 for a new 261 mower.

Any comments on the price or general performance of the 261 mower. It has the front anti-scalp roller but not the optional front wheels, which I may add later ( I heard JD sells them as an add-on)

Thanks

I had one of those they are terrible for digging up the lawn. The extra add on wheels don't help even makeit worse.
The wheels are too small. I would not recommed jd 261.
LandPride mower is much better. I now have 2572 excellent cuttting.no problems at all. ....
