My '85 blew out a rim due to rust and I'm finding out most all the 12x28 rims are 6-loop vice original 8-loop (lug).

- Where can I buy one (new or used) besides the dealer for $870?

- Does anyone know if I can put a new center section on to convert it to 6-loop?

Thanks in advance...

Go to Unverferth Manufacturing in Kalida, Ohio. They tell me they make nearly all the OEM and aftermarket rims for AG and construction purposes.

You might be able to persuade the customer service rep to sell you one at dealer cost which is about half of retail or even less, or you may have to go through a buddy at a repair shop to buy commercially.

I talked to Unverferth and it looks like they have an 8-loop for me to replace the original. I took some measurements and I think they also have an insert if I wanted to convert to 6-loop, which I think I might do. Thank you very much! Looks like I'll be all set. Price was $188 on 8-loop 12x28, 8x8. But they are saying I need to order through local dealer. ....

That $188 is that retail, wholesale, or jobber price? If you order through a dealer you could see that price double plus shipping. The deal I had worked out with them to buy a skid steer rim was to have a buddy at a tire store buy it and I pick it from him. The buddy wasn't going to mark it up since he wanted to buy more rims and owes me a favor. You might have a buddy at a auto repair or even a body shop inquire--they might be able to buy just one-time without becoming a dealer.

The other opion is contact Gemplers (Supply?) they prety much carry everything Ag too, if memory serves. ....

The $188. is MSRP price, minus shipping. I got the conversion discs in but unfortunately they do not fit the inner bolt pattern. They are off a little too much to drill out. Now I'm back to looking for 8-loop rims. ....

Checked a dozen bone yards for used rims, but had to go with ordering a new one from Ford/NH dealer for $870 clams. The 2110 rims are metric and conversion discs did not fit. You can bet I won't be putting calcium chloride in the new wheel. ....

Credit cards work wonders. :) - Unverferth does not have any metric 8-loops. Or none in my size anyways. They had 24 1/4" across but mine were like 23 3/4." The other alternative was to order a blank rim and cut and weld my old bolt tabs (not really a loop) to the blank rim. Estimates for that were $560+ being it is time consuming. The few shops I checked with were not jumping to do the work as this is the busy season. I had ordered the 6-loop conversion disc from them but had to return it, again because it was metric. oh yeah... tires are shot too, so add the cost up there. ....
