Maybe I am wrong..Today my wife and I took a little trip. We decided to go to the Casino Near Green Bay, Wi. for lunch and some fun. The day was very nice and we had a nice lunch and lost our play money.

We were on our way home and were following a hay truck which was moving slow and everyone was passing him. A pickup in front of me and myself started around the truck. This is open country roads, 2 lane, and fairly well traveled. We both had plenty of room and so started around him. No yellow lines in either lane. not a no passing lane.

Just as I was pulling back into my lane behind the Dakota in front of me, not following too close, On a side road to my left was a police car getting ready to pull out, I was watching him just to make sure we were back in line before he pulled out. We were in our lane before he started to pull out, but he immediately pulled over to the gravel on his side like we were going to hit him and as soon as the hay truck passed him, he did a donut and turned on the siren and red lights.

Well I kept going just to see who he was after, the hay truck, me or the Dakota in front of me. It was me he wanted, so I pulled over as soon as I could safetly. He pulled up behind and so while he was doing whatever they do before getting out, I got my liscense out and had it ready.. He approached my vehicle and asked if I knew why he had stopped me.. I said, not really, I may have been over the speed limit when passing the hay truck. He said no, but for passing in an intersection. I said to him that there was no yellow no passing line and I was back in my lane before the intersection. No hostility or shouting, I am a pretty easy going guy.

I honestly thought I would get a warning . He came back with a court date and a $195 fine. When he told me what it was, I said, you have to be kidding, not in a fit of rage, just like what? you have to be kidding. He immediately told me to shut up and put my hands on the steering wheel. I said, can't we talk, and he said one more word and you will be arrested and taken to jail. As he said this, he was backing down the side of the car and his hand went to his side.

I was dumbfounded. My hands were in plain site on the top of the steering wheel. My wife was scared to death. She had ahold of my arm and was shaking. I can't describe how we felt at that moment, it was horrible. He then asked if I understood. I just looked at him and nodded my head, I didn't know what to do. Believe me, I was not hostile or antaganistic in any way. My wife said after we drove away, she was afraid he was going to shoot me, I don't know, but something was not right here. I do think this young cop had a problem and I was the fix.

I am not sure what I will do now, but I think it might require an attorney. I have had one speeding ticket in my 40 years of driving. If he had said you were speeding I would have taken it like a man, But.....so what do you think? I am still befuddled by his actions.... JohnJ

IMO
Imediately go the the police station and file a complaint.
Tell them you want this on record and want a copy. You can even print one up, sign it and turn it in to the station where you live and ask them to fax it to that police station. Get an attorney regaurdless! It will be worth your money and time over the length of your possible insurance increase. If you can remember if you saw that hay wagon pull into a farm somewhere maybe take a road trip and ask if he remembered you doing anything wrong?
(The last one may be extreme but you can give the captain of that police station a line of shit anyway and tell him to go check with the farmer, tell him he will come to court if you ask him to cause you know the guy. I highly dought the station will check it out.
There is no way in hell I will ever accept a ticket again with out fighting it unless I was really really wrong! My last ticket was about 15 years ago and was out of town. I did not follow my advice I just gave you and paid for it for 3 years! That ticket sounds like a chump ass citation. ....

That definitley sucks. I was in a situation like that one time in my life and it was definitely terrifying. I had a swat M16 pointed at my head. They were performing a drug raid on the entire block I lived on (was a pretty bad neighborhood), and it turned out that the people who rented the front unit (I was in the rear unit), were dealing drugs, and two cops were arguing over whether to shoot me or not. The one cop that wanted to shoot me, pulled a baggie full of drugs out of his pocket and threw it on my kitchen sink, and then said to me "see how easy it is?"

I found out later that that particular PD had a brutality problem. I moved to another city, and 20 years later I still avoid that neighborhood like the plague.

There are some retired cops that frequent this site. Surely they can give you some good advice on the matter.

You should not delay in writing 'everything' down as you remember it and have your wife do the same. ....

I would file a report. The cop was acting in avery goofy and confrontational manner. Definitely unprofessional, especially the way he backup and made as if to grab his weapon. Especially since you kept your hands on the wheel. It sounds like he has a problem and maybe shouldn't be having a gun and a badge. ....

Was it a "tribal" cop? Were you on the res? Where in relation to GB was this? Definately file a report on the cop and take it to court. Your wife makes a great witness. ....

{The cop was acting in avery goofy and confrontational manner. Definitely unprofessional, especially the way he backup and made as if to grab his weapon. Especially since you kept your hands on the wheel. It sounds like he has a problem and maybe shouldn't be having a gun and a badge.}

Unprofessional yes, but as for the rest of that I think the jury would still be out. Remember {this is for everyone out there} when you get stopped, dont play games or fiddle around with your hands looking for anything! Two things to think about.
1. This officer does not know if you just robbed a bank, conveint store or maybe just killed your girl friend and just happened to stop you for a traffic violation. Hence they need to always watch everymove no matter what you think. It has happened before where a officer stops someone and that person thinks they are doomed cause they done something else, maybe on probation ans will go to jail for a long time, those stops are deadly. That is one reason for being careful.
2. you dont know if he had just got a call or heard that they are looking for a white,male,5'10" with a mustache and a funny hat. If you fit that bill and the call was for you are possibly armed, you make a wrong move and even though he (the police man) may be wrong, you may be dead. so always listen to everything they say whether you think he is wrong or right.
I remember seeing a flier back in 1983 or 84, My dad brought it home for me to see. Out in NY city the latest craze was policemen stopping a suspect, telling them to keep their hands on the wheel in plain veiw. With you left hand slowly open the door. (The officer would be positioned along side the edge of the car or just behind the passenger side like they are supposed to be, gun drawn) You think your in total control till the door cracks open an inch or two and the suspect pulls a trip line with his foot, which fires the double barreled shot gun that is inserted in the door and now pointing right at you.) That is scary. So yes, I think he was wrong for the attitude as described but as for covering his weapon and backing up slowly?? NOPE I think he was being cautious and to tell you the truth maybe even just wants to make sure he goes home everynight.
I have the utmost respect for policemen, you could not pay me twice what they get and do that job. NEVER! On the other hand there are always the few that let it go to their heads and have the barney fife attitude.
I feel you done the exact right thing, but asap I would document what happened and make a report. You dont know? Maybe there have been other complaints about this guy in the past and if you dont tell your side and complain this will continue? ....

Definetly file a complaint. This shows a lack of professionalism. A "Street smart" cop is one thing but this man sounds/appears to have his priorities wrong (to put it mildly). ....

I once got pulled over, the cop called for backup and two cop cars were there. Cop asked me if I knew what I did, I said no, he said the gas station I was just at said I left without paying. They made me lean over the car, frisked me, etc. I told them I paid - told them how much the gas was, and how much change was in my pocket. They said they were taking me back to the gas station to pay the bill - I said I would not pay because I already had paid.

They put me in my car, got behind me and in front of me, and we proceeded back to the gas station. Then they pulled me over again - I thought they were going to beat me or something. They got out - told me they called the gas station, and the person at the station no longer was sure I was the guy who didn't pay. The cops told me I could go, and never apologized.

Now I never pay cash at a gas station. I always use a credit card because of this story. ....

Many years ago I worked third shift in a gas and grocery store as a partime second job. The funnest times of my life I think watching all the drunks come in. (now I know what I used to look like) Many times we would have drive offs AND WE HAD NO CAMERAS BACK THEN. Now a day in many places your covered by that fact alone. You never called in a car unless you were sure who done it not to mention when the car takes off you still have all the "payers" there. That gas staion attendant was way out of line. Good thing your on it with the change. When paying with cah one should always ask for a reciept. ....

First, thanks for all the input.. I had decided not to do anything and just pay the fine because I thought it would be paid in the area where I got the ticket, Onieda Nation, and I didn't want to deal with them. My wife told me it would be in a different town, Appleton. I decided to photocopy and mail in a not guilty, and then they will set up a court date. Last night I basically copied and sent the letter I posted here along with my wifes written take on what happened to the Chief of police, Asst. chief of police ,and Lieutenent of the police dept where the officer came from. As of now, I have not got a response nor do I expect one. I will take a copy of the mail to the judge at my hearing. I also looked into Wi. road laws and found the ticket would be valid inside city limits, not outside town unless clearly marked. I also found where if the officer had pulled out into traffic with vehicles coming from either direction, regular right lane toward him, or car passing another car in his lane as I was, toward him, he would be at fault, not to mention possibly hurt or killed. I went back and took pics of the intersection and absolutly no kind of no passing zone, only Hy. sign of road. Just a half mile closer to town was another intersection, and it was marked clearly with a no passing sign and double yellow painted lines on road and a hy sign. I totally think this is a wrongful ticket and hope to beat it. The real bother is from the officer and the way he acted and treated us, this I would like to see stopped before he meets up with a hothead who won't just shut up to get away from him , but who really confronts him and gets really hurt by this rogue... thanks again for all the input, it helped greatly to quell my fear and anger ...JohnJ ....

I'm glad to hear you're fighting it, and I hope you win!

Cops work hard and face danger, but a few of them get this power-trip thing going. Then they threaten to haul off to jail every jaywalker who looks at them funny.

Don't know about Wis, but in some states you can have the hearning moved out of the little redneck town court into a district (real, professional) court. Otherwise you know your case will be heard by the cop's poker partner or in-law.

Try asking for a reduced penalty. The last ticket I got was also under stupid circumstances. In my case, a few words with the prosecution's rep, and they dropped all the points and lowered the fine/penalty. Maybe in your case they'll lower the fine or something as a compromise? $195 is %^&* highway robbery.

Best of luck to you! ....

I can't say this would be the first time I've heard of poorly trained "tribal" cops getting overzealous. You are doing the right thing. Problems like this should not be ignored.

Best of luck! Please keep us in the loop on your progress.

Fight it to the hill. I got pulled over in new jersey for a "stop sign" in a rest area that didn't exist. I never(knock on wood) got a ticket and when the NJ State Trooper told me I ran a stop sign I laughed. He started to get crazy on me with the hand on the .40 cal and I asked him to walk over there with me- there was no stop sign. He refused and said if I argued with him he would lock me up. I went along with it and took the ticket. I had to go back the following week and took my camera. I took a roll of film of the "stop sign" which was about 50 feet away for a parking lot exit not the main ramp. I also snapped a shot of a NJSP cruiser doing around 90 on the same corner. The car was leaning so bad you could tell from a still he ran the same "stop sign" I sent it to the court and also told them if I did not get justice I would inform the Governor of NJ.

NJ troopers are the biggest %&#$%#$% in the nation. They are always in trouble for racial profiling and they just got a rash of turd handed to them 2 weeks prior. I claimed they were trying to revers the ratial profiling by targeting white males from out of state.

Send lots of letters. They do not like letters going to the governer or news papers. Make sure you aren't confrontational but stress the dope cop was over agressive.
They will throw it out.

I legally carry a pistol in my state. I will NEVER again tell a cop I have it on me. I was rear ended one time about 10 years ago. The other guy was 100% at fault. 2 State troopers from CT showed up. As a gesture of good will I took my wallet out, gave them my license and pistol permit. They threw me on the hood of my car and frisked me. They took my gun. The cop had no idea how to unload it- I had to tell him how. They then threw me in the cruiser and called it in to find out I was legal. They then took the gun apart and stuck a part in each pockket and threw my bullets in the trunk. This was 10 years ago and I was a lot younger than I am now. I am so pissed at myself I didn'ty go after them then.

Most cops are good and decent but the handfull of bad ones I'd love to meet some night off duty and kick the crap out of them. These are they type that were losers their whole life and then they get a gun and become mr tough guy. Fight this dirtbag to the end. He shouldn't be wearing the badge. ....

It is really sad that these guys have so much power and don’t know how to use it wisely. Not all of them are idiots some do have sense. I work at a Collage where they get their certificate to operate a vehicle and carry a weapon. And you would be very surprised what graduates from these classes. Officers are in need so they pass them right on though the classes. The worst of it all is, they have three chances to pass to get their certificate, In my opinion that is BS because I only had one chance to pass my refrigeration journeymen license or I had to repeat the class over again and PAY FOR IT. But I did have a Sergeant tell me some time ago “you can’t wear a vest around your head” so you do have to be civil to who you pull over. ....

Police make mistakes, no dought about that, they are human and in many cases under a hell of alot of stress and pressure from all angles. If they use any force at all on a minority the video cameras start rolling. If they use too much force they are under suspition. If they dont use enough force and have a weapon took from them they are dead, wounded or wrote up for letting this happen. If they stop you, they were wrong, you didnt do it, if they dont stop the guy infront of you, they were wrong. If they are going to a call with out lights and sirens (for obvious reasons in some circumstances) and they pass you or turn on his lights at the stop sign and blow thru it, then the idiots say," he is abusing his powers probably late for supper. If they shoot some one for ANY reason they are under investigation and on desk duty till reviewed. If they even pull their gun, they are reveiwed . (Thank god for pepper spray eh) If they are on the side of the road doing paper work, then folks say," they are sluffing off" If they stop too many, then they are assholes. If they put their hand on their gun (for their safety) then they are intimidating or over using his power. When off duty if he steps in to break up a fight, folk say he is throwing his weight around. If he does not step in on a altercation off duty then he is not holding up the honor of the job. He arrests someone and is told by the cuffed crimminal that when he gets out of jail he is going to rape his daughter, screw his mother, slice up his wife etc etc. But god forbid if he makes a mistake.
One thing we all need to remember is that a very high percent of these guys just want to go home after work. Yes there are a few that feed on getting involved, that is the exception to the rule. How many of you would like to be able to lose your career, (Not your job but your entire career) if when off the clock you dont do something right or worse yet, you make a wrong decision trying to help someone else? Just about NONE of us here have any idea what kind of pressures theses guys go thru day in and out. Every time you stop someone you may DIE! EVERYTIME! You have no idea what this guy just done that maybe is the reason he is passing a car and speeding. You stop him for this and he thinks your stopping him for the crime he just done.
Yes it's easy to rip on the police, if your car is getting broke into and you call and they dont get there right away, or your wife hears something downstairs and calls 911, cowering in her bedroom hoping they get there imediately. Funny how the only time we like the police is when we need them.
Not saying you are not right in this instance, I am saying that all of a sudden the topic has took a turn towards bashing the police and many of them are bad. Remember that the next time you see lights turning on and off in your house from the street and have to decide if you want to go in there and stop this guy yourself or if you would rather call that cop that dont know what he is doing and took that test 3 times before he finally passed?

I have never had a problem with a cop in my life, My Brother in Law is NOW a Deputy , Another brother in law was a constable for many years, a brother was in security for years. I at one time thought I would like to do this work, but decided I didn't have the balls for it.... I do not think all cops are bad, on the contrary, Most of them I know have been just regular guys, The Sheriff lived across the road from me and we got along fine. I flew with another at our flying field in town.. Most are upright guys. Something was definately wrong with the one I met up with. would I call him if my lights were flickering as I came home, dang straight, He would probably do a great job, if he had the attitude he had with me against real criminals, When you enter a house that has been broken into, with the person or persons still inside, it requires a different attitude than pulling an average guy over for a traffic violation, This is what makes a good cop, adapting to the situation, it may be what he needs to do. He might be one of the reasons Green Bay is one of the 10 lowest crime areas in the U.S.A... But...he had a problem of some kind that day, and he was wrong to treat us the way he did. ....

We can't begin to understand the motivivations that are involved here , that is what Judges are paid for to exercise common sense and we all hope they are able to maintain the impartalitly to render the same!!

Take it there and presents the facts as you know them , nothing more - nothing less and you will be vindicated if your facts outweigh his!! ....

Since I told a bad experience story about cops, it's only fair I also tell my good experience story with cops.. Trouble is, I didn't realize it was a good experience at the time.

I was in the marines, home on leave, and driving my pickup truck through Palos Verdes, Ca. at about 3am, highly intoxicated. This was 25 plus years ago and attitudes have changed considerably towards drunk driving since. But as I passed the police station (drinking makes you smart), I got pulled over. As I was pulled over, I drove up on the curb.

He gave me a sobriety test (have no idea how I did), and it turned out I had a failure to appear traffic warrent. So off to jail I go (about 150 yards away).

Im told that to get out I have to post bail. It's an odd amount (something like $74.86), and I don't have exact change. I'm told they don't have change, and can't accept $80 because that will mess up their books.

Well that pretty well pisses me off (but I keep that to myself). Shift changes, and none of the new cops have change. About 8 hrs later, the janitor comes in, and lo and behold he has exact change to break my 20, and I get to bail myself out.

Well I was pissed about that for years and years, but it was only many years later, that I realized the not having change thing was a ruse, just to keep me in the pokey long enough to sober up.

The guys didn't wnat to bust the marine with DUI, but they weren't about to let me drive anymore. So, they wouldn't let me make change for 8 hrs or so, long enough to sober up.

It sounds like a small thing when I write it down klike this, but it makes me smile everytime I drive past that police station. I'm pretty grateful in hindsight.

Regarding hothead cops, I always thought that 21 was too young to give a guy that much power and responsibility.

I saw a lot of guys (MPs) get just ruined in the marines. You take an 18 year old, give him a ticket book and a gun, and it seems to just jack up the personality of about a third of them.

I always thought that it would be good if the minimum age to become a cop was thirty. By then, they start to mellow and have a bit more perspective and maturity.

It's a highly stressful job, and it changes those who have it. Especially those in high crime areas (like the cops in the first story I told where the cops were arguing whether to shoot me or not).

I wouldn't want the job at all, (unless it was one of those bicycle cops at the beach), but I'm really thankful they exist. In the USA, we have pretty good ones by and large.

I have had several friends and a couple in laws who were cops,. All of them were slightly off (especially the undercover one), but I can defintely understand why.

Their divorce and suicide rate kinda says it all. How do you turn that stuff off when you get home? ....

I was not going off, I hope you did not take it that way. It sounded like this was going to go down the road of gang banging the police. I dont do that. Yes we are at their mercy on the roads but like Archdean said, you take it to the courts and see what happens. My guess at worst you get it knocked down and at best its gone. A lawyer would seal the deal but then you have that added cost. The way insurance payments are though it may be worth your time and money. IMHO I think it will be worth it. I swore I would never eat a ticket again in my life after the last one years and years ago.
I was traveling just south of Madison Wi. On 94. It was 2:30 Am (I was sobor too!) I was going to my land up north with the wife in the car sleeping. It was raining to beat all hell and I was doing 80! (back then limit was still 55 on I-94) For what ever reason (I think she woke a bit) I slowed it down to 74. Wouldnt you know it there he was. He stopped me and told me I was getting a ticket! What did I want? Speeding at 76mph or driving to fast for conditions? I told him I was doing 72? He said, ok that seals it your getting too fast for conditions. I thought great! Wrong try 4pts and $96. Here was my bitch. On one ticket he put speeding 74 in a 55 and anouther he put DTF for cond. One was the court hearing and the other was the actual ticket. Of course I did not fight it would of cost me a lawyer or a day off work. Big mistake! Insurance found out about it and I paid extra for the next 3 years. I was wrong but he was a PUNK! There were NO cars ahead or behind me for atleast a mile! I admit it, I was wrong but he was a PUNK! I was ploite couteous and had no record of tickets and really at 2:30 how many guys would be sober that he would stop anyway? LOL
Thats my story and Im sticking to it! ....

Brokenarrow... Heck no, we are just stating experiences , good or bad. Some funny, I was coming up hy 57 in Illinois, a cop was in front of me doing about 5 mph less than speed limit, I followed him for about a half mile, others were passing him, I was not. He turned on the lights and turned over his shoulder and motioned for me to pull over,, I did and he got out and walked back to me.. He said, what is the matter? you afraid to pass a cop? You afraid I will give you a ticket just for passing me? Other people were passing me, I didn't stop them.. So why didn't you pass me.. I said, my turnoff was just ahead and I figured I would just follow till I got there.. He said Good day , turned around , got into the car and we both turned off at the next off ramp..JohnJ ....

The first ticket I ever got was for doing 68 in a 65 zone.

Yes, that was 3 mph over.

The CHP signed the ticket C.S. Jones. That said it all. ....

I feel for you!
Right now (last fall) my buddy told me about 4mph is all that is relatively safe to exceed the limit by on hy 27. by my place. Alot has to do with how much pressure is on to slow the traffic down IE:write citations. Since he patrols that part of the state highway and is a state patrol I trust his words.LOL! He said that you can get away with more but you are asking for trouble and depending on the work load or his assignment it is very risky to exceed by more than 4mph.
I have not asked or checked in a few years but the last time they raised the cost of fines here in our state (and I am going on memory) If I remember right if you get a ticket doing 66 in a 65 mph zone, it was around $111! That was about 5 years ago (If I remember right anyway)
I believe if your going 56 in a 55 it was less. Same amount over the legal limit but less of a citation.
All I can say is that I either have been aweful lucky or just plain old got smarter the older I got. I religously speed and many time it is well over the limit since I put on 25K miles a year I may be just picking the right times and places on the highways/feeways. One thing I do not do is speed in town (too much anyway) and I definately do not speed on the smaller highways that are posted at 55. Those doggies are just money makers around here! ....

"Did he put the cuffs on you?? =-)"

No. 1969, I was 19. He acted like he was giving me a break after committing a felony. It left a deep impression on me. I hated bullies then and have less time for them now.

15 years later when they gave me a gun and a badge, I still remembered how that felt. I never wrote a speeding ticket unless they were doing 10+ over and then it was usually dependent on passing the "hello test".

I have done the math and I know that if some bozo at a tire store sells you what they are overstocked on rather than what you need, it can create a 5 percent or more error in your speedometer.

If fact, I remember several times stopping people with out-sized tires and issuing a warning which included getting back to the correct size tires.

All that is not to say that I didn't do my share of pissy little tickets, in fact I did a thousand of them. But they were for public excretion, drunk in the roadway, drinking in public, disorderly conduct, lewd behavior(don't ask, you really don't want to know), littering, trespassing and the like.

An old fashion foot beat cop and 12 square blocks full of drunks, whores, homosexual book stores and drug dealers. What can I say?

More info, I am sure, than you really wanted.

Drankin
I did not know you were a officer at one time. My hats off to you! More job than I would want. You may appreciate this little story that I was told by one of my dads old partners. he said, " I remember the first year you dad was on the force. We just arrested a guy for assualt with a weapon. When we were processing the guy back at the station the guy told your dad that when he got out, he was going to (I dont want to post what he said but it was all kinds of things to my mom and also to his kids)
%^&^&*% to his family. Your dad had never heard this kind of talk in his life and did not realize that this was a common occurance after an arrest." He said, "your father threw the guy out the first floor window (At that time the building was kinda like a bylevel house and the window was only 5 feet off the ground and it was a window that vented open, so the window was not broke, just the screening was)
He told me that they had to actually put my dad in a cell till he calmed down, he was going to kill the guy!
LOL That story came from a partner of my dad and was retold at my dads funeral to my sister who had never heard it before. (I heard that story before because we used to deer hunt together)
This is why I give policemen all the repect I possibly can along with the benifit of the dought most of the time. They have to be above the rest of society now a day and show more restraint and profesionalism than I ever could imagine myself haveing. If my father would of done what he done back in 1958 today, he would lose his job or worse. The restarint shown by most officers is unparreleled by most of today's society.
Like I said, I tip my hat to you for doing a job that is so drastically needed yet many times is publically insulted by folks that do not know what the job really involves day in and day out. ....

One of the things you learn about police work and modern cars is how really small the back doors are.

When you have someone in cuffs and you put them in the car, usually their right ear will rub on the drip rail, sending the signal (unless they are well and truly shit-faced) that they need to dunk their head down to get in the car.

Usually the kind and benevolent patrol officer waits patiently while the message penetrates their dim little brains and the neck muscles respond to the stimulus and the head dips down, or he prompts the response by gently pushing the head down as he guides them to their seat..

But sometimes, the kind and benevolent peace officer is on the 16th hour of his 10 hour shift, and he hasn't had lunch yet and he is 3 hours overdue to take a leak.

On top of that, he only got 5 hours of sleep after the last 12 hour/10 hour shift because he had to go to court at O'dark thirty to testify against some genius he caught red-handed passing dope to a school kid.

And just as he escorts the latest candidate for Time's Man of the Year to the car for the ride to jail for beating a 6 month-old with a vacuum cleaner hose...........

The rocket scientist in question sez something to the effect of "I know where you live and what hours you work and I am going to go to your house a cut your wife a new *****."

Sometimes, well sometimes, I guess we are all human, no matter what standard we aspire to.

His right ear healed up just fine, eventually.

Nobody ever bothered my wife. Good thing. She would have shot their most precious possessions off, after she put the first four in the boiler room.

Thank God neither of us are in the center of that stream anymore.

If this really happened like you say it did, that cop needs to get reeled in! This just happens to be my profession and we all can have bad days but if I ever treated someone like that..............WHEW! As a cop, if you give an as_ chewing, you don't give a ticket and vice versa.

Was this some guy with "little man's syndrome" or did he have an eternal chip on his shoulder? File the complaint with his superior and if you have to, get an attorney and get this guys complaint history......maybe there is a BIG problem here! ....

I saw an episode of COPS today where they were doing an undercover sting of male prositutes in west hollywood.

They had an undercover cop in a limo driving around soliciting gay male prositutes. They busted this one guy who had been out of jail for the same crime only one hour (he had been in for 6 months).

They showed part of his trial where a psychiatrist was testifying that the guy was HIV positive and knew it when he was out soliciting. He also testified that the guy had said he didn't care, he hopes everyone gets it.

They said at the end of the show that the guy was charged with felony prostitution and the case was thrown out of court by a federal judge on a technicality.

That is why I couldn't be a cop. I couldn't take doing the same work over and over because someone else kept undoing it.

This guy is out there right now knowingly infecting people with HIV, when everybody knows he's guilty of this crime, but because the cop didn't tie his shoelaces right that morning or something the case gets thrown out of court.

Man, convicting criminals who are caught red handed is almost as hard as getting building permits. Who could put up with that.

God bless you guys for doing that job, but half of the people out there I'd have to deal with as a cop would make me go ballistic. It takes a special person for that job. ....

A majority of Police Departments have very high standards and do extensive background investigations on candidates before hiring them. You notice that I said majority not all departments. The same is true when it comes to training. Most departments have extensive training both in the Police Academy and "OJT" (On the Job Training) after graduating from the academy. Again I said "Most". It sounds like there is a good possibility that the officer lacked both proper training and or didn't meet the high standards required of an officer in today's world. If his department's administration refuses to investigate your complaint....file a complaint with the local state police and they will do an independant investigation. ....

Did the cops car have a video camera? If so it should prove your case. At least on atttitude. If it has a camera and there is no tape, I would ask why? Would think a jury would wonder also.

Is it possible there was a sign for the intersection and the hay load blocked your view of it? If the cop was sitting on a road then it probably was an intersection.

I have no idea how hard it could be to be a cop alone in the field. You have no idea what he had just run into or a buddy of his did.

We all expect them to be professional but they are humans and often have a chip to prove they are the MAN.

Hope you well. ....

I like the idea of cops being 30 years or older. Preferably with army experience as a commanding officer. With exemplary character as evidenced by multiple references. And no women. And give them six figures to start. Then we won't have to complaing about asshole cops. One bad one ruins the reputation for 99 good ones. ....
