Its been a few years since I asked this question. This year I purchased a gehl 5640e turbo, have only 100 hours on it, but am very impressed with the power and smoothness of this machine. It has the 82 horse deutz motor. Am now thinking about purchasing a gehl excavator a 373 with house levelling would be ideal. <br>

I'm going to throw a curve ball at this whole thing. Why are you so concerned about a retaining wall having just a 1" drop over 50'. Surely you will not notice this with the eye, and surely it won't affect any structural integrity of the wall. I do retaining walls and brick work for a living and let me tell you getting something like an 80' retaining wall to within 1" is not to darn bad. Anyway, I suppose if it rises and falls 1" every 10' then thats a different story.

Just my thoughts, not to be taken to seriously ok.

I went thru the same delima as you Robbie. I am very glad to have bought the b7800. I mowed about 6 acres of grass with this unit (it has the 72" mmm) and do believe it is more than enough tractor for lawn cutting. Don't forget the weight of tractor, man, mmm, probably the fel is still on when you cut, weighs close to 3000lb. You will be cutting in med. gear at full throttle so get your self some ear protection. I find it noisy.
Recently I purchased a zd21 with 60mmm pro-deck. It cut the grass cutting time from 6 hrs to 4 hrs. Just thought I'd throw that in.

I recently purchased a B7800 Hst with a 72" mmm. Since hour # 1 I have run it at full throttle. My dealer says not a problem. There is 58 hours on it now and most of it is from bushhogging and cutting grass. Great machine. It was taking about 6 hours to cut my lawn, so I added a new machine to the stable. A kubota zd21 zero-turn lawnmower. Wow. 5' cut but only takes 3-4 hours at most. Now let me tell you about back aches....

I also have a B7800 and mine has the locking device to hold the MMM up and keep it up. It becomes completely independant of the rear pto. Yours should have this locking device also.

Its the perfect machine for what you plan to do. 2 acres should be cut in about an hour and a half max. It won't damage the lawn and the tractor will go anywhere being the size that it is. Did you get the r4's or turfs?

I stand corrected. The B7800 is a 4 cylinder. The 3130 is a 3 cylinder.

Just wondering why there is so much weight difference between my new B7800 and the JD 4210. They are almost equal in hp yet almost 1000 pounds heavier for the 4210? Initially I will be doing alot of Fel work (in which case the added weight may be a bonus) but eventually it will be more or less a lawn tractor ( in which case lighter is better). Any thoughts on this.

I am having information overload. Got to burn all the brochures now that I made my purchase.

I just purchased a new B7800 today, would like to know what a tooth bar is. Is that just a bucket with teeth. Also is there such thing as a heavy duty bucket? Mine is the 402 and it has me worried about the thickness of the metal. Why can't it be made like the B21?
Maybe I'm just used to working with skidsteers with a heavier guage metal. Is this a legitimate concern?

Well I just gave the dealer a small downpayment to solidify the deal. I am the new owner of a B7800 with the 402 FEL, 72" MMM, and will be purchasing a 5' Bush Hog probably in a couple of months or so. The dealer had a rear mount snowblower attached to it this morning so I ran it for an hour or so. Intitial impression is good. Now if it would just stop snowing I could get back to work and pay for it.

Just wondering what type of skidsteers you guys have or did have. I own 2 Thomas skidsteers, a T95 and a T153s, the later being 53 hp. Once these machines are mastered there is simply no comparing a compact tractor to a skidsteer.

Just a thought, is it possible the mechanic read 1.1 hrs, not 11. Check if the hour meter has tenths. Seems to be the only other way someone could read 11.
