Sounds like the same problem that Cub-Cadet CUT owners have had with the Mitsubushi built units; too much voltage drop going from the key, through all the various safety switches until it reaches the starter. Many of us have added a relay. See discussions under the Cub-Cadet posts.

Hardwood:

All of them used to be 2 strokes but they now offer 4 strokes. However, they are really expensive. Ski-doo has a new 2 stroke out there that is really clean burning and that is also expensive.

Snowmobiles have gone a long way since the '70s (I hope) cuz I'm not planning for break downs and only hoping for fun. The gear has improved lots as well. Am looking at spending about $500.00 per person for gear.

Got about $8,500.00 invested in snowmobiles and a trailer. Hope we enjoy this winter sport. Could have saved this for retirement but gotta have some fun first!

I suspected that it may be gas in the oil. The oil looks an odd color almost muddy. It lights easily with a match. When my Cadet had problems, it would run until the sump would get way overfull til it choked itself. It would sometimes run through a tankfull of gas in 15 minutes. There are several possibilities which are not that expensive to fix.

1.Your carb float or needle valve may be sticking or remain open and it is flooding the engine.
2.If it is a diaphragm style fuel pump it has a tear in it allowing fuel to pass over into the oil chamber.
3. If you are overfilling the oil level or driving diagonally over a sharp decline or ditchbank it could be sucking in more fuel.
4.Carb icing as I mentioned previously is another possiblity.

Guess it all depends on how old you are, what shape you are in, as well as how fast you want the job done. Money also matters. Also don't know the area of the country you are in and plans for the future. My ancestors 150 years ago did it with a couple of horses, walk behind plow, axe and hand saw. They also cut down the trees and did it all.

Some suggestions:
1. cut out what you can of the stuff left behind that is easy to remove (i.e. larger stuff). Cut it up and stack face cords to sell along the roadside if it is hardwood. Or, if you have a wood furnace or boiler use it for free heat.
2. Start at one corner of the property and work a distinct grid. When you have a section completed, you will have a good sense of accomplishment that gives you a desire to keep going. If the tree debris can be grouped, work on two or three at a time and make a single pile from them. I wouldn't haul it far. Burning these piles is cheaper than buying/renting a chipper and slowly feeding it. Some of the burn pile will not burn complete. Take that stuff to the next pile. If it is green, it won't burn well. Save up some used motor oil as a starter, mixed with a hint of gas. Stand back when igniting. Once a pile is lit and burning you can keep adding to it. It is sometimes hard to get a good, hot fire going. It is surprising how quickly it will burn down. If you have some waste grass clippings, or fall leaves they also help to get a good fire started.

If you are a "tree hugger", by all means chip it and use for bedding around plants, shrubs, etc. This stuff makes a good weed barrier around raspberry plants and tree seedlings to hold moisture for future growth.

Once you have completed removing the top stuff. I'd get that D-6 in one time to do all the stumps. Lots of dirt is going to cling to the stumps. Attempt stump removal when it is dry out, so as little clings as possible. Shake and roll them as much as possible to build piles again. Burn piles, and again scoop up leftovers for the next pile. In Northern climates, we usually attempt to burn in winter months. Fire won't get out of hand and catch other things on fire. Being colder weather, you won't get overheated as much.

You can beat on a skid steer much harder than a 30-35 HP compact utility. A 30-35 HP tractor may have more uses later on. The skid steer and compact tractor don't have a very large bucket usually about 60" wide. A 45 HP utility tractor will have a 72" wide. A used 50-80 HP farm tractor with loader has much more height to stack branches with maybe an 84" wide bucket. If the branches are intact you have a tough time compacting them. Stack a few on top of each other and then squash them with downward force of the loader bucket. Build a grille protector. Watch out for punctured tires with loader tractors.

Bought my used disc for about $375.00. Making something or purchasing parts to build adds up fast. You can also purchase a single disc row commonly used for food plots and pulled by an ATV. Some others are used on garden tractors with a sleeve hitch. Northern Tool sells 365345-2101 for $169.99

Most MF135s like mine have a Freeman loader which uses single acting hydraulic cylinders which only provide lift, so no downward force exists except the weight of the arms and bucket. Mine also has just a manual trip bucket with spring return, it also has a homemade blade. I would usually remove the bucket or blade which is only a couple of pins and bolts. Gives lots more visibility while driving around to look for large stones, stumps or whatever.

As Murf mentioned, you should get a little help with hooking up the PTO and get instruction about the dangers of getting tangled up and wrapped around the shaft. I know of a number of area farmers that lost arms, hands and fingers in the 60's and 70's.

I'm not familiar with it, but you could check out a few things. You could have a clogged air filter (not getting enough air mixture for power), clogged fuel filter or debris floating in the gas line that plugs flow. If neither of those solve the problem, there are other suggestions.

You will find that none of the Big Box stores will service anything. Likewise, if you go to Lowes and get a low end model John Deere tractor, the same thing will happen. It is not just a Cub Cadet/MTD thing. In many cases, the tractors are shipped in(partially assembled)locally and finish assembly work is done by a local dealer or service contractor. From my experience, these guys don't always set them up correctly, since they are paid very little to do the job, speed is everything. If a local dealer does the install, he is upset that your purchase point was the Box Store rather than his shop. The selling prices are supposed to be the same!

Most manufacturer's warranties don't include getting a flat tire nor a dislodged belt. If it ran 5 hours before the belt flew off, it would seem to suggest that it may not have been assembled incorrectly. If you put it back on again and it repeats the problem, something with the setup appears to be the problem.

If you describe the situation how/when the belt came off, we may be able to suggest what went wrong. Typically, if the belt came off as the PTO is started, the belt may have been too loose. If the belt in question is the one driving the blade spindles, a spring loaded tightener is supposed to maintain the correct tension. Sometimes grass clippings, a small tree branch, etc. lodges in there (packs up around the safety scrouding). I've also had something stuck underneath between one of the blades and the deck sides causing a belt to fly off when you started it up. If you wash the deck down frequently and/or the tightener hadn't been greased it may have seized up. These are just a couple of situations. We may be able to trouble shoot the problem.

I currently own 7 Cub Cadet riders, four of the oldest ones are about 30 years and the newest 3000 series model has about 35 hours on it. I kinda like them!

About 3 or 4 months ago, I changed from a basic Nextel to a Sprint Droid. My service provider sells, Nextel, Sprint, Verizon and a couple others. Was allowed to have it 3 weeks and if not satisified, could cancel the switch.

After 2 1/2 weeks, I ended up switching back to Nextel and went with the BlackBerry. It is real, real slow on the internet and anything that requires data transmission like the GPS due to its 2G vs: 3G network but otherwise OK.

I was having trouble with reception inside of any buildings, and was impossible to get anything at all in the metal building at the shop even in front of a big window. Bought an antenna booster and all that stuff without any luck.

I'm not good with the touch screen and just by changing the grip on the phone, I'd drop calls and switch applications. Just moving the phone next to my face would sometimes also change the application. They came out with a new HTC phone a couple of weeks after switching that has improved reception, etc. Just like anyther Obama offers, it just missed me. I carry mine in an open face Otto as well in my shirt pocket. Clip on the belt annoys me and keeps falling out while looking kinda nerdy!

Nextel, Sprint and Verizon give good business rate discounts vs AT&T. It's about 1/2 the cost of AT &T.

I'm more like Hardwood. I use it for phone calls and cleaning out the spam in my mailbox when away from my desk. My mailbox gets full in a very short time, since spam still gets through all the filters at about 1 spam every 3-5 minutes from 6 am to about 10pm - 6 days a week but slows down somewhat on Sundays giving me relief.

Guess I'm too old and just don't like everybody being in my face all day long trying to scam me out of everything I've ever worked for. Everybody has an emergency that happened about 6 months ago and finally wants to get hold of me today, such that I can fix it in the next day or so, otherwise I'm not a reliable vendor. Meanwhile they don't have a clue what it takes to get the job done and I should do it for nothing since their company has no money but will remember me in the future when some new monies are available.

I was able to plant over a month early this year, so the onions and potatoes are ready early. Also got carried away with the size of garden and have about 3X more than ever before. Normally, I leave them in the ground til Fall, digging only what I need. With all the hot weather, etc. I'm concerned with leaving them in the sun.

My basements are way too warm, and so are the garages and pole buildings to store them now. I used to have one dirt floor shed that we stored stuff in and covered potatoes with dirt as was mentioned during the winter. I had concrete poured in there as well.

Looks like I should get the backhoe out and dig a lean-to/cellar adjacent to one of the garages.

Was hoping for some new tech approach!

I don't have a schematic and haven't had one apart in a long time. The belleville spring washer is used to spread the clutch discs apart. The clutch plates should have a gap of about .017/.021" if I remember correctly. If you tighten it too tight, the clutch will not release. With too wide a gap, it will not engage. When you are borderline, the clutch will usually engage when cold, but not re-engage when hot.

My 7275 was sluggish once and found out the hydraulic filter was plugged and would collapse at times after some use and it would act up. After letting it set for a while it would seem OK and then would act up again. The hydraulic filter operates the hydro.

Are you sure it is an oil leak and not fuel? My fuel line rubbed thru at the right rear of the engine. Found that many of the hangers for the line from the tank toward the engine were rubbing. After replacing the line, I put rubber grommets around the line at all the hanger points.

PTO belts are made of a special compound to be able to withstand the constant, high speed 90 degree bend. I believe they have a Kevlar chord inside. If you get one that is too stiff, it doesn't bend easily and flips off the pulleys. A Cub-Cadet belt from a dealer will run about $40.00+. Cub has all sorts of belt cross sections and lengths depending upon tractor model and mower deck design.

I purchase India equivalents from my local industrial distributor that gives me a business discount for about $12.00. He needs the exact Cub Cadet part number to cross reference. You may be able to do this through a local industrial distributor. If not, I get mine from the Binkelman Corp. in Saginaw, MI. My contact is Dale Smith at 989.755.6330. I'm sure they would do a credit card sale and ship it to you.
