Note #68 on this parts drawing. That is the handle to the stop valve. On the 1500 this should only be closed or open. Open is for normal use. Closed is only to lock the lift in a raised position. If you close this valve and then try to use the lift you will dead head your hydraulic pump and stand a good chance of shearing the key or complete pump failure. http://www.hoyetractor.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=YM1500HYDLIFT

Note #s 9,13 and 14 on this parts drawing. They make up the handle for your lift drop speed. I believe you have 3 positions. This should allow your lift to drop from fast to slow. http://www.hoyetractor.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=YM15003PTVALVE

Your last statement about the lift only coming up a small amount sounds scary. Is it doing this with the stop valve fully opened?

Noticing you have chaged the injection pump. Was it doing this same thing before changing the pump? If so, doesn't seem likely the pump could be the problem.

Tractor Data shows the 1981 ym240 sold for $6000. Doesn't show the ym240d. Add a $1000 for the four wheel drive.

I guess it is just my computer but when I go to your pictures the only one I can enlarge is the "great pumpkin".

Probably checked with them but Hoye shows they got in a 240 parts tractor back in November.

Not familiar with the EF352 but I would guess it has a way to bleed air out of the system. Probably bleed screws at the filter, maybe on the injector pump. You definitely can loosen the lines at the injectors. I assume you are getting fuel through your new solenoid valve?

How about using a funnel and a short hose and rig up a temporary supply going straight into the injector pump. That should eliminate any possible problems before the injector pump.

My 2002 has a kill cable. One time I left it partially pulled. The tractor cranked with black smoke and had no power. Yours may not have a kill cable. I wonder how long the tractor ran with a catalytic converter as a muffler. Was the converter seemingly stopped up? Any difference after removing it?

You caught my attention about the 8 mph creeping so I did a little looking. Seems at least one model of the Dixie chopper will move at 15mph. That seems rediculous to me. World is in to big of a hurry now a days. Sure wouldn't have time to sip a drink on that thing.

I sure hope it is not the case but I would take the radiator cap off while engine is cold and watch for bubbles. Bad head gasket can cause that white smoke. Just something to check, not saying this is the problem.

Don't be afraid to ask the history of the tractor. Remove radiator cap while cold and look at inner tubes to see if they are all open. Check all fluid levels and conditions. Don't forget the front axle. Watch the crankcase vent while tractor is running for excessive blow by. Inspect for external leaks. Take tractor through all gears listening for any unusual noises. Check both brakes. Determine if instrument panel is functioning. Take loader and 3 point through up and down, curl the bucket. Hopefully, 3 point will have weight for a good test. Test the pto. The 2000 doesn't have a thermostat. Put a temporary gage on it to see what your oil pressure really is. Running very long with low oil pressure can do great harm as I'm sure you know. Is your exterior radiator fins good and clean? Is your interior cooling system good and clean?
