I have a TC33D bought new 2 years ago, now with 160 hours. I do a lot of forward and reverse when mowing, and I've noticed lately that it seems to jerk slightly when starting up from a dead stop in either direction. In other words, no matter how slowly and carefully I push on the hydro pedal, the initial movement of the tractor is a jerk or lurch as it begins to move. I'm fairly sure it didn't act like this when it was new, and was much smoother.

Anyone else notice this? Is there a fix? Something that can be adjusted?

TC33D at 2 years and 150 hours. No blown fuses yet, but it is hard to shift from neutral into one of the 3 ranges, especially range 2 which I use most. Sometimes, it just WON'T go, even with the clutch fully pushed in.

Dealer advised to not use clutch and VERY SLIGHTLY rock back on the HST pedal (reverse) while pushing on the range lever. With a little practice it works like a charm every time with no gear grinding.

DON'T try this with the PTO however!

Everything Jack says is true about visibility and load capacity. We just use the clamp-ons infrequently and only for light loads.

I can tell you about the TC33D versus the 1630 (predecessor to the TC29D I think).

My brother bought his 1630 new with 60" mid-mount mower. Very nice tractor, and he still has it. Last year, we also bought a TC33D, this time with the larger 72" mid-mount mower.

We haven't done any pulling contests, but the TC33D handles the 72" mower with about the same ease, under the same conditions, as the 1630 does with the 60" mower.

Interestingly also, the TC33D engine runs a bit more smoothly and is a bit quieter than the 1630. Otherwise, the tractors drive and handle identically.
