Well I have never used the Terramite but I have ran a full size back hoe so I can say that for its size my BX23 has done everything including digging in hard clay 4 ft deep with stones and rocks that lifted the front end up with a 12in bucket. Yes it may be a bit slower but I compare it to my back and shovel. It works a lot faster then me and no back strain. I have lifted many items that I made the hydro talk back to me but it always got the job done. I also knew my unit operated above 1850 hydro pressure and have heard that many of the newer now have been running below that so may require some shims to increase it. I have now now just under 900 hours seat time and it will be 4 yrs old soon. I have cracked both joints in the front wheel drive and blew the tranny out. And glad to say Kubota covered the bill 100% even though it was out of warranty. I mow 4 acres of grass, work in 5 acres of Woods cutting firewood and take care of 1200 foot of Ditch bank.

kj - You need to give that problem to the dealer. I had similar problem when my BX23 that made a horrible noise then stopped. Would not go forward or backwards with out stailing tractor all this happened while I was going down hill with a front loader full of dirt. All hydros worked and used the backhoe to pull it up onto the trailer. I found out the transmission gone and had to have it replaced.

Well I was to get mine back but.... while they had it just sitting there so long and noticed that my front end was leaking, again so they went ahead and replaced the seals. Much to there surprise they were working on it again and found it was wet yet. Had a hairline crack that look some real close looking for. Had to order that part, so the thought is now that I should get it back this week early. All other repairs that I have had done they have come out picked it up and delivered it again at no charge with in a few days, but the other repairs were also during the slow time of the year. Now just crossing my fingers and toes for the next 30+ days on cost. Thanks everyone

Thanks Guys, Yes I know that I over load/ work mine way too often, But it has only weeped/leaks on one side of the steering pivit. I thought I read it somewhere that I could use different oil but I truthfully have not taken to the time to really search the book again, but that is what I thought I read somewhere that I could put differnet oil in place of the UDT. Just worried that this heavier oil will slow me down in the winter time here in N Ohio.

Dad is looking for relief from riding a Deer 320 that has a cab, snow blower, roto-tiller and mower. He loves the hydro foot contal on my bx23 but he has too many trees and yard junk (I call it) to use it everywhere so he has to use the deere for that part of the mowing. This unit will be mowing 5 plus acres of flate and ridged area. This unit looks to be an over kill but he is looking for a unit that has easy access to servicing the blades, can have a cap/cab mounted for winter with a snow blower that can handle a 70 foot half circle drive with a rise of 20' in forty feet span going into the garage.

For all who wants to know the Hi Lo trans lever safety switch can be adjusted. Not to difficult once you remove the tire and remove the seat belt and pull the 2 bolts holding the switch and the pivit arm, you can then take a 9/32 wrench or socket and move it. Have learned that I need to keep mud & ? from building up in this area better.

Being a happy BX 23 owner with over 600 hours on a 32-month-old unit, I am very pleased that this little giant has done for me. I have scraped moved hailed tons of dirt, stone and wood. Helped me build a 30X32 pole building, a 30x56 garage, complete with footer, extended the drive by 60 foot and widened the 600 ft drive, and did over 600 foot of trenching for elect and drain pipe, along with mowing 4 acres of grass. As you can see by the hours, I use this machine all year round and in many tight places that a larger unit would not have been able to do.

I have owned a BX23 2 years this June, fast approaching 500 hours. I am very pleased at what this little workhorse does. I mow 5 acres, have cut up and removed 25 trees out of my woods, have trenched hundreds of feet either for running electrical lines, footers replacing ends for field tiles on my 12 acre farm. I have moved at least 60 to 70 truckloads of dirt and stone. Dug up many tree stumps including a few that were 18 to 24 in diameter. I use it in the winter also to clear out my half circle drive during the winter. It has done everything that I have needed it to do so far. Now I will say that digging up the 24 in stump took me longer then I thought and even thought I had possibly bit off more then it would do but it came out.

May want to check the key switch also. Had a tractor that needed to have cleaner sprayed into it because the contacts got fowled. Had no lights and nothing to the starter. Dead Dead

Sonny, I live on and work 20 acres. Own a 15 year old JD322 with blower, tiller, leaf vac and belly mower and had has just over 500hrs, and a 2 year old in May with over 400 hours BX23 with a 60" belly mower. I looked and compaired and price was a biggie for me. This little BX has performed better then I had ever expected and has saved me $ and physical problems like with my back. What I needed was a unit that would help me in the woods, groom the yard keep the stone drive level, clean up the ditch, dig drainage ditches, dig up stumps a (few that were 16 to 20" rnd) & move snow. Not saying that JD would not do the same it was just that this was the size and $ unit for me. Review everything that you will want to do in the short and long term and then get the unit that will give you the most bang for buck. I really bothered me last year when the tractors just sit in the barn doing nothing. This sight also was very helpfull to me on deciding the unit to buy. Good luck

Yes, not one of the best deigns to hold the air cleaner, had to replace mine around 200 hours.
Side ? BX 23 owners. Does your temperature gauge move at all during cold weather? I was not concerned during the summer, as it never hit the first line. However, with my using it more this winter I am afraid that it is not getting warm enough. Now I am not running it hard but I am leaving it run unless not using it for an extended time like lunch breaks or going in to get warmed up. Thinking of putting a wind block in front of the radiator.

I will agree with Art I have a 1956 Allis Little G that we have hooked the clutch for ever except for just one winter of not doing it that I had to go in and bust loose the clutch when all other ways of breaking it loose did not work. As a kid I can remember doing it on all clutched equipment during those times of new usage.

I have dug hundreds of feet with the BX23 and have hardly ever get off the seat to move the machine. I just lift the stabilizer and the front FEL and use the back hoe to move me forward and reverse and side to side. Oh to make the tractor move easier put the tractor in neutral and just push or pull your self where you need to go. You can use the steering to help guide you also. Another hint put the tractor back in gear it just helps keep it from moving.

I used my BX 23 last winter moving 2 feet or more of snow off a my stone half circle drive and also my folks cement drive both have 6 foot elevations from road to house. Both with the FEL and just pushed and piled it up, out of the way for the next storm. Oh forgot to mention that the John deer 318 with the snow blower got left in the barn.

Just a note to inform anyone interested about this little workhorse. I am now over 350 hours in 13 months. No problems. I mow 5 acres in an afternoon with plenting of breaks on those hot days. Moved tons of dirt, stone with chopped and split wood. (Loaded many pick up with wood with the front loader) Dug at least 600 feet of trenches, and one grave and love to use the back hole to lift logs for cutting oh such a back saver. Art thank you for your honest help. The only regret I have is during last winter that I was not able to get out and use it as much and the fact that it does not have a cab.

If you buy farm grade fuel they take care of it for you. No guess work. I am being told for arond the northern part of Ohio they are excpecting to start in November.

Well if you have not yet bought yours I hope this will let others know that I have 55 hours my one month old BX23 and it has done everything that I have needed it to do. Digging, moving, pulling, mowing, etc. The only down is the seat for a short 5'4" person, cuts in and out going over bumps.
