"First off, it's not BAD for the machine for the front to have traction, but it is VERY bad for both the front and rear to have no slippage at all when it is in 4WD."

How about when there is slippage? I've got a JD4320 HST and not a drop of flat terrain. I'm on sand or snow only except when I pull out of the barn, and I do loader and scraper work. Is it a big mistake to just leave it in 4WD like some of the guys (now including me!) do around here? Thanks very much. jk

I stopped voting years ago when I began taking it as an implicit endorsement of mob rule. I could see voting in a Constitutionalist system--IOW agreeing to the concept of Rule of Law--but only one which was strictly limited in the enforcement of the few rules that are passed by the mob-rule system. Sorta like the United States in its founding days. The Fed could have laws, but none could trump the States. And the States could have laws, but none could trump the freedom of an American citizen. It was all focussed on the sovereignty of the individual.

Besides...once a government begins not to follow its own Constitution, then there's no Rule of Law anyway. You have a renegade government in that instance.

My dilemma is this. For twenty years I've yapped that the only two people I could honestly support as President are Walter Williams and Ron Paul. And darn if one of them isn't running this time, as even a major Party candidate.

For me it's a very tough moral dilemma, and I don't have a lot of those. So for now I've just put up some signs and choose to watch the show. I think when the money goes funny next year and people find out that Dr. Paul happens to be an expert on that very topic--even wrote a book years ago--then things might change a bit.

250 year cycle...wouldn't that be something?

All true points, Murf. That's why I'm on the computer instead of selling pellets!

Still, there's a market for pellets, and corn as pellet fuel ain't quite dead yet. And then, it turns out that softwood pellets for bedding is pretty convenient, far more than shavings at similar cost. There are a lot of horse owners who don't care too much about cost anyway; convenience is a high value to them.

Meanwhile I've got trees that are going down by the day because nobody's building anything, while I gotta buy heat pellets that are going up by the day because nobody's building anything. Story of my life. jk

Sorry, I missed that post. Doesn't sound good at all...I hope they got more than "run at higher rpm"! Reading back about the cruise and now your mention of radio, sure sounds like something funny electrically. Leak too, eh? "On occasion the trans will stop pulling" with no load...whew.

Did all this start just with the full boxblade, or were there problems earlier? Whatever the problem is (are?), I hope you get an actual fix. Thanks for letting us know. jk

Hey, Murf...do you get away with 15/40 all year cuz your stuff is running all the time? Or are they always starting in heat?

'Round here (northern mid-Mich or southern north-Mich depending on your POV!), Deere and the dealer seem to say 5/30. The newer Ford cars are insisting on 5/20. No problem with 15/40 in winter?

There sure are a lot of opinions on this. Maybe someone could try no oil and report back! jk

Me, I'm going back to analyzing box scrapers. Not only is it more enjoyable, but it's tons more productive.
