I have a JD 650 which I believe is a rebranded Yanmar. I have had air get into my hydraulic lines because I have a whole somewhere in one of the lines. Anyway, sometimes when I park my tractor for a while and then start it up, the hydraulic activited devices will not work. I end up having to bleed the air out of the lines by loosening the big nut on top the hydraulic unit that sits just under the seat. With the tractor running, I loosen that nut with a breaker bar and right size metric socket. You can hear the air escaping then suddenly with a sputter it will spit out a mixture of air and hydraulic fluid. I quickly tighten the nut after the fluid starts flowing out. I have learned to pack the area surrounding the nut with mechanic rags to catch the spray. I also put a catch basin under the tractor directly under the seat. It will make a huge mess, but it will allow me to operate the hydraulics. When I mean spray, it sprays everywhere. Use old clothes and eye protection. I have started replacing hydraulic lines trying to fix the problem with air getting into my system.

I have a JD650 (Yanmar engine) and some of these areas might be applicable. One of the areas which gives me a similar problem is that the safety switch for the PTO handle doesn't always engage. Sometimes I use a screwdriver to make sure that the PTO engage safety switch is being engaged. The other area I have to check it to make sure that HI-LO selector is in neutral and that the gear manual is in neutral. The majority of the time it has been the PTO safety switch.

I am trying to see if any knows about any differences between the JD650 and JD670 lift arms. I need to find replacement parts for the adjustable link (lift arm) on a JD650, but haven't found anything that would work. It looks like similar parts are still available for the JD670, but looking to see if anyone else has a workable solution. The JD670 seems like a European version of the JD650.

I recently had to drain all of the hydraulic oil out of the tractor (had to replace spindle going to the brake drum). After cleaning the hydraulic oil filter and putting the right amount of hydraulic fluid, neither my three point hitch nor front loader will work. Any ideas of what I am most likely at as the issue?
