JD 2210 ,FEL, 62"MMM, LX4 Rotary Cutter, Woods Tooth Bar, Bad River hitch adapter, Wheel Weights, Front Weights, and a homemade rear ballast.

I've owned it for about a year and have over 140 hours on it. I'm very pleased with the 2210. The attachments go on and off very easily. Small size and FWD make easy to go about anywhere even with turf tires. 3 cylinder Yanmar Diesel is proven and quite capable. It's easy on fuel and the tractor is put together well.

My only complaints are lack of a temperature gauge and the MMM adjustment. The mower gives a great cut, but getting the blade height to match the height indicator is tricky. I quit obsessing about it and just mow.

If your going to change your oil early, you should replace the old oil with another batch of break-in oil, which you should be able to get from your dealer.

I am very satisfied with my 2210. However it has a 2 piece frame and I would not but a backhoe on it. You would be better off renting one if your not going to use one frequently, IMO, because you will be limited to what you can do with one as opposed to a true compact tractor. If your really set on having a backhoe on a sub-compact, you would be better of with the Kubota BX 23.

If your engaging the "pucker factor" when working your property, then make sure whatever tractor you buy has wheel weights and ballast, and use your head when you are operating your machine.

I seem to be getting 6-7 hours per 5 gallons of diesel. I have never measured it exactly, though. I'd say probably a little closer to 6 than 7, running at 2900 RPM and mowing with 62" MMM and wheel weights. I have over 100 hrs on my 2210, with no major complaints other than the lack of a temperature gauge.

I have the 62". I really like how easy it is to remove and install. It gives a great cut and never clogs. That being said, it is a real PITA to adjust. On paper, it's a simple process, but once you correct one adjusment, you then have to make another one. My biggest problem after making adjustments, was not being able to turn the height adjustment, even after adjusting the rod that goes from near the left lift arm to the back of the tractor . I finally solved that problem by oiling the height adjuster underneath the floor deck. The mower cuts great, so I quit obsessing with perfect adjustments. The deck seems to have stabilized and stays pretty close to where I want it.

Thanks for the heads up on the size. I'd prefer the 48", but since what I'll be using it for does not have to be done quickly or in one day, I'm sure the smaller RC will be easier on the tractor.

b8fish, the shaft problem might just be something on the earlier production 2210's. I'll talk to the dealer about it, as I don't have the iMatch.

Apology accepted. So far I have been treated very well at the dealer level. Unfortunately big companies can drop the ball, so to speak. All it takes is the actions of one decision maker, and you're hosed. Let's hope you have a different experience this time around.

I have a 2210 with 62" MMM and FEL. I transport it with a 16' tandem axle trailer. I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything less.

Sounds like you have it narrowed down to two very similar and very fine machines. They are very similar priced and spec'd. It may come down to ergonomics and convenience. Convenience being things like how easy the FEL and MMM come off and on. I did not mean to overstate the limitations of the FEL in my previous post. I have used it a lot more than I thought I would. I have loaded it with firewood, brush, built a creek crossing, leveled paths, etc. So actually I'm very pleased, and for what it appears you will be doing, it should be just fine. Just make sure you have the proper amount of rear ballast. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

Amen, Chief. I'm getting close to the 50 hr mark on my 2210.To this day I still do my own oil changes in my personal vehicles. Don't want to trust stuff to someone I don't know. There are exceptions (diligent service people), but you have to find them first.

I bought a JD 2210 for the exact same reasons kwschumm stated. I plan on keeping this unit for a long time, so ergomomics was a big factor. You might as well be comfortable on the equipment you are going to spend a lot of time on. Plus I liked the looks better!

I'll echo what b8fish said and add a few more things:

1. When you disconnect FEL, lift the loader off the tractor support arms just enough to clear the front wheels and no further.
2. Keep the tractor in nuetral when installing the FEL and the tractor should roll forward into place. You can adjust the tractor fore and aft if you think it is necessary.
3. If your FEL will not line up with the front end bracket holes then you need to loosen the 2 large carriage bolts on loader frame. Then mount your loader and tighten the bolts to specs. Mine goes on with no fuss since doing this procedure.

Thanks for all the good info. I will change the oil with breakin oil & filter b4 putting it up for the winter. Should be a little over half way through the breakin period, so that should work out just fine. Thanks again.
