Based on a recommendation I received here, I purchased the tooth bar from TractorSmart.com. Delevered to the door was $297.00. They were back-ordered at the time for about 2 weeks. I dealt with Ronnie. I think it made a big difference "scraping" some hard soil I have. The teeth are fairly sharp and can be taken off sharpening or replacement. Easy to install, I used a 1" drill bit(and some cutting oil)for the required hole on each side of the bucket.

I have a new BX and had the same concerns - So far, I have dug some footings down to 3 feet (I don't think 5 - 6 feet would be a problem). As far as grading with the FEL, no problem once i added a tooth bar.

Sort of jumping in here, but the hour meter on my new BX23(3 weeks)doesn't work. Connections seem o.k. The dealer is ordering one under warranty. Anyone else had hour meter problems?

The dealer said he can get one for the BX but it costs $400.00. This seems a bit high (or is it)? When I searched some of the sponsors, the tooth bars looked like they were for larger buckets. The dealer is friendly but seems geared towards the landscaping side of the business. When I asked about other bucket, he said some after-market ones may be available but he wasn't sure. The one I'm getting has a 12" but I was curious if anything larger can fit. Please send web links if you don't mind. Thanks.

I'm in the market for a TLB and have found the forum to be very useful. I actually have less than an acre but will be undertaking several construction projects. Would the BX23 be able to easily dig 150' of footings? I have several tree stumps to remove 12"-18" dia. Pretty big, but could it take them out if I dig far enough around them? I need to grade an area for a patio, remove several inches of soil and dig some fence posts. Like many projects, this will occur over an extended period of time. In the past, I've had a hard time finding a machine and operator to come out for smaller jobs. Thanks!
