I have used the following on a 2210, Woods M4 (48"), Rural King Wallace brand (48"), Mowhawk 42" and John Deere 413 on a 2210. Of the units, I would not again purchase a Wallace brand, poor blade tip speed and gives a terrible cut, next would be the Mowhawk (heck I will sell it) is a good unit, but I wanted to cover the wheels and feel the Woods M4 and 413 are a good fit. The only think I don't like about the 413 is weight, it's HEAVY.

As you may know, the 210 loader for the 2210 is being replaced with either (your choice) a 200X or 200CX. The 200X is a cheaper and requires a bit more time to take if off the tractor, when compared to the 200CX. Anyway, I looked the 200CX over closely and apparently the folks at Deere designed it very similar to a Kubota in that the attaching points are really on the bar under the tractor and you can remove the 200CX from the seat. The down fall in my view is the remaining large casters on top the bar which is under the tractor and thus, leaves you will the large post sticking up from that bar.

I think the price is OK, but the promo plans today are tough to beat 36-months, 0%, so you have to factor in the difference in finance charges, assuming you might need to borrow some dollars for the purchase. As for the machine, well I just got rid of my 2210 and purchased a brand new one and it arrives today. Absolutely no issues with my former machine and needless to say, I think they are wonderful machines. I personally think the 2210 is one of the best bangs for the money within the JD line.

I visited the Home Show in Fort Wayne last week and they had a 2210 eqipped with a backhoe, and it ran off of hydro from the rearend. More specifically, if you look under the seat, and though the slot along the slider bar on the right side you will see a "brass colored" type fitting on the top of the tranny as well as a second one and it was at these two points additional hoses were added. So my question is, does anyone know where you might be able to get some of those hoses, because you could do something with that remove hydro port, although it's not advertised that way via deere. I will be contacting Woods today about those hoses, since they made the backhoe?

Agree, the shaft will get jammed if you lift it all the way without a quickhitch. To solve this problem, I just removed 3.5" from the shaft and no longer utilize the quickhitch.

Insurance is certainly a consideration, but you might just reach under the hood and pull a fuse (the smaller Deeres are on the firewall, looks like a four pack, and pull the starter one). I think after trying to push it home they will give by the time you wake up the following morning.

I personally have the Landpride RTA1050 (50") and of "my toys" this is the one the wife insist will not leave the property. That tiller will make "mosit cake consistency" of the ground and my wife and daughters love jumping into that soil and planting during Spring, no need for a spade, just a little hand pressure and seeds are planted. Regardless of purchase, get something that will cover your tracks, so you will need the 47-50" tiller.

I had a Woods once and it was nice and wouldn't hesitate to own another, but the deal was too good to pass up on this one .

I see excately where you tapped into the engine for the temp meter. Can you tell me what fitting size and/or temp unit you purchased? I would reall like to put one on my machine.

I knew if anyone did it you would have it, considering all the nice work you already have on that machine. I will begin on something this weekend. Although unrelated, I will get some photos posted of my modified front hitch which allows me to push snow higher.

I have not tried this specifically, but suspect it will work great; that is, sandwitch (see my first picture of my machine on the front blade) a 3/4" thick x whatever width X 6" tall piece of rubber between the cutting edge and blade and you will not make up any of the backtop and it will work more like a squeege. Chances are you will need to add a bit of weight to the rear blade but this will likely be the ticket. On my front blade, I can clean pavement, blacktop and even GRAVEL without digging in, because the rubber will fold under and not mark up any surface. Obviously, all this will need to be removed during times of real cutting need, but for snow it has served me very well.

You are correct, the single largest advantage of the 4000 series is the tranny (hydro), and it's clear the vast majority of folks prefer that route. I do feel it comes at a price and not only COST wise, because if you really use a hydro hard you will begin to hear it (very hot tranny) and this does reduce performance, but for the average homeowner of light contractor I feel this is small. In short, the 90-series offers more machine for the money, but you are left shifting gears and for some that's simply not an issue. I have thought this direction many times, but my application, constant turning, back&forward just lends itself for the hydro. However, if I had a wide open field, with no trees, the 90-series would be parked in my garage right now.

It's my understanding through any dealer, so I would locate the one you plan to visit and purchase for years to come the chosen one. I know this is the case, since my machine was originally purchased in Michigan and now the warranty is in Indiana.

Not sure of the precise torque numbers, but you are correct in that the rear is self contained within the 3.5 gallons of hydro fluid. One other thing you might check on are those zerks along the front end and on the u-joints on the drive shaft.

I would encourage you to get the recommended stuff under warranty so there are no disagreements assuming something was to fail in the tranny.
