A little something to think about is whatever you decide....you should get your specs down and then consider going a little bigger. There's always something that comes up with the space issue and if you have the space and don't use......no big deal. If you need it and don't have it......it's a pain.

Plus, if you are farming and you are going to have a barn, you may as well have a "real" barn and not just equipment storage. You will then have the versatility to do lots of things with your barn space down the road if you need to. Just think ahead and consider things that may come up in the future.

earth....where would the injector pump and injectors be located on a Kubota B7800 if I ever have to do that?

earth......my dealer said the same thing about Woods. I own the Bush Hog SQ60 b/c of my dealer recommendation. He used to carry Woods equipment but now mostly Bush Hog. He said Woods had some problems in the past with quality such as rear blades being bent, etc. and then the company wouldn't take care of it.

He said he'd get me Woods if I wanted it but he never had any complaints on the Bush Hog stuff. He's been in business for 37 years and is a well respected guy in my area.....I took his advice and I really like my Squealer.

We had a Woods bush hog for our JD and a rear blade as well.........granted they were well used and had some years on them but I can tell you that we've repaired and even had that blade professionally welded multiple times and the thing constantly breaks where the blade and the support arm come together. It's a piss poor design.

The 6ft. Bush Hog blade for my Kubota has been very nice so far.

Hardwood......the hoe is not attached by a 3pt. hitch. It's on the 2pt. fast hitch with two arms(similar to a three pt.) near the fenders also hooked to the hoe. I'll probably only be able to use it on the IH since my other tractors are newer 3pt. hitches.

I thought about the money pit thing. My brothers and I originally went together and bought the 560 b/c of the hoe so we could each get some use out of it on our property. I'm really the only one who ever uses it anymore. We paid $3500 for the equipment and then had a guy do some work on it for $1400. (a guy my brother knows who I think didn't do s*** for that much money and doesn't want to talk about it of course) So, with an original purchase price of $5500 for a 560 (or about) we will definitely have more than the original money invested.

Having said that......I've probably gotten my money out of the hoe work instead of paying a guy or renting one since we bought the equipment 3 ways. But, I was going to give my brothers their share of dollars for the tractor and just keep it/restore it myself since they don't really want anything to do with it anymore. I can't justify them putting any more dollars into it and I don't want to consider it "mine" alone if they have a stake in it still.

It definitely needs some work to be more reliable and a regular user. The guages don't work, the T/A needs to be replaced, several lines need replaced, a few leaks here and there, etc. A typical 50 year old tractor that's seen its share of use and probably several owners. But when we bought it, it wasn't needed for anything but the backhoe and that worked sufficiently enough to do the work we needed.

I still can't determine if the original paint is red or yellow though. I see some spots of red in places and then as soon as I think the problem has been solved I find some areas that appear to have been yellow from the start. I'm just not sure about the details and haven't spoken to anyone yet who is sure either. Could I take some pictures of it and send them to some of you guys to see if anyone can help out with the info.?

I really don't want to have thousands more dollars invested in this machine, but I do like it and could really use a large tractor on the property. If it were running properly, the hoe and loader would be put to far more use than they are now.

I too am w/ earthworks.............if you are that concerned about spending the high dollars for new equipment, then don't even look at it.

I just went thought this same exact scenario. On my property I have a JD2155 and an IH560. They are old and not designed for jobs the way these new machines are. I went and bought a new Kubota B7800 w/ fel, 60"mmm, 60" bush hog and a 6ft. blade. The Kubota is 1/2 the machine in size of my other two and does a tremendous amount of work.

I will no longer be without hydro or 4x4 when it comes to regular work. Don't get me wrong, nothing pulls or pushes like my 560 and the 2155 can really plow a field.....both much better for these things than the Kubota. But for all around versatility, maneuverability, reliability, and just all out completion of a job.....my Kubota is one of the best high dollar purchases I've ever made. I take care of my equipment and I expect the 7800 to last me for decades.

I really did my homework when deciding what to do. I talked to dozens of people, posted questions on boards, etc. etc.......probably all the things you are doing now. All it did was make my decision harder. Do your homework and ask people, but take the 100 opinions you get with a grain of salt. Ultimately it's your decision, you have to be happy with it and you have to pay for it. Good luck.

Nobody has mentioned burning the stump. Would that work?

I've never tried it......only all the methods you guys have discussed. But, I saw that my neighbor did it the other day. He had about 8 stumps in his yard that aren't there anymore and when I was over there they were down to ashes and still smoking. The bad part was that his lawn around the stumps was burnt, but wouldn't all our other methods ruin the lawn around the stumps anyway?

Just wondering about the burning method and if anyone has ever tried it.

I just did some trial and error with this exact dilemma today. I took a gallon size bucket and zip tied is to the left hand side of my loader brace on my B7800. I simply cut some small slits in the bottom of the bucket, zip tied it to the loader base using the factory holes and I had myself a spot for my tow chain.

Then I got to thinking about bolting, welding, etc. and decided not to go through all the trouble. I took the gas tank bag and fender bag off my four wheeler and used both of those on the tractor. The gas tank bag went over the gas tank and hung quite nicely over the hood and between the loader arms. Now I have a water bottle holder as well as two medium sized pouches for whatever. The fender bag got tied to the left side of the ROPS where the fold down bolts go in. The bag hangs nicely and securely on the ROPS and does not block the signal lights or interfere with me. That gives me even more room.

I wasn't done yet and kept thinking of other ways to make space. I took a book bag type back pack and fastened it to the back of my seat. I cut the shoulder straps and simply wrapped the webbing around the seat, fastened the should part of the straps over the seat and the back pack hangs on the back of the seat. Even more space now. I tried it out b/c I thought maybe the straps would bother me when I sat on them. I ended up not even remembering they were there.

Now I can stash tools, some sandwiches/drinks, rope, gloves, tow chain, etc. etc. without worrying about stuff falling off, etc.
