Regarding containers getting heavier: I bought an inexpensive universal fuel pump from NAPA and put ~4 foot of 3/8" tubing on either end. My JD has a 12v aux (cigarette lighter type) receptacle inside the cab. So I wired the cigarette lighter plug end of an old 12v spotlight cable to the pump. Those without that convenience can simply put alligator clips on wires long enough to reach either the battery or the starter.

Slow, but dependable and safe. More importantly, easy on the back AND doesn't involve succumbing to the fuel container nazis

My plan is to move, and move - and keep moving. Spent >20 years in the Navy (mostly overseas), >20 years tied to a sheep ranch in KY, and am now caregiver for a terminal wife. So my traveling has been pretty limited since leaving the Navy in 1992. When the wife finally passes on, I'm selling the place and using some of the proceeds to buy a 55'-60' twin diesel coastal cruiser. I'll live on board, and use navigable rivers and coastal waters to finally "[i]see the USA[/i]".<br>

No kin in Kentucky, but that was part of the decision to move here. Wife and I served a combined 41 years in the Navy, both retiring in Scotland (last place of duty). When the Navy asked us where we wanted our possessions sent, we pretty much threw a dart at the map. She had family in the FL panhandle, I had family in southern MN. So we had a general idea to settle somewhere in between. We also wanted to be near a military facility with a future (the Clintons were just gearing up the base closure machine) so we had somewhere to enjoy our military retirement benefits; medical/dental, commissary, exchange, etc. Ft Campbell KY seemed to fill the bill. Close enough to family that we could drive to either in half a day, but far enough to discourage (some) relatives from dropping in unannounced.

Gained 4 years experience raising sheep during that 4 year stay in Scotland, so I wanted to pick it back up in KY. Eventually found 30 acres with a solid house and a good set of outbuildings. Went into a second career raising lamb chops. Did that for years before retiring at Social Security age.

They go in the heater hose, and presumably your Komatsu has a cab heater. The flow is directional thru the tank heater, and you want water from the heater to enter the engine block first. From there, you install it at the lowest point in the hose. If that's not mechanically feasible, install it in the lowest spot on the return hose (coolant coming back from the cab and returning to the engine).<br>

If you actually meant "inline radiator hose heater", disregard all of the above. They go insice the bottom radiator hose.<br>

30hp is a little big for only 2 acres, but there's nothing wrong with considering LS. I'd get one before I bought another Chinese tractor, that's for sure. LS (USA) is based in North Carolina, but their dealer network is not widespread as the more familiar tractor names. IF you don't have a dealer nearby, USA-based parts and advice are readily available on the internet or over the phone. Click the link below for their American website. My Porsche has full time AWD (60% rear/40% front) in both directions. My driveway too has about a meaningful slope leading into the garage (I never measured the angle). We had recent ice storms in my part of KY, and after seeing my neighbor get her Focus stuck, I had a little trepidation over backing out of my garage. The car walked right over a lip of clear ice and uphill onto 3" of frozen slush. It's not black ice, but every bit as slippery. Reversed out of the driveway, thru the stuff the snow plow piled up, and onto the highway - with nary a wheel spin.

Two examples are my previous Stihl 025C and my current Jonsered. The tool-less model that replaced the Stihl 025C is their MS251-C-BE. Both saws feature a device that both holds the bar in place and tightens the chain without the need for tools. I'm sure other manufacturers have models that offer the same feature.<br>

If you're talking about a chain harrow, it depends upon which side/direction it's towed. Upside down is the most gentle, no tine action. Right side up with tines pointing forward, aggressive. Tines pointing rearward, less aggressive. The cheap ones (1/2" soft steel) aren't worth more than scrap price. Make sure you get 5/8" (or larger) hardened steel.<br>

Hard ground, I used mine points forward. Softer ground, points rearward. That's how I prep for over-seeding. Once seed has been broadcast (or drilled), smooth it with the tines facing the sky. Also good for smoothing gravel roads/driveways, and rough dethatching. I even used mine to windrow broomsage for burning one year.<br>

Those really small holes actually "breathe" as the hydraulics work; in on ram extension, out on retraction. So dirt/chaff in the air is going to stick to the naturally oily holes. Eventually they plug up, which essentially turns a vented system into a closed system. I cleaned my vent/fill plug with a kerosene soak followed by a few directed blasts of compressed air, at least twice a year during spring and fall maintenance. If you work in particularly dry dusty conditions, it likely needs cleaning more often.

If it's working on the outside, then you have little choice but to "dive in". On the inside end of the horizontal shaft (96) is a piece that's often called the "shift lump". It's a cast finger that's been known to break off. The finger slots into a fork (97) which moves a sliding gear (111)that engages/disengages the PTO driven gear (112) depending upon the position of the PTO lever (88). Alternatively roll pin ((79) could have broken, which means that fork (97) could be out of place on rod (98) <br>

To get to that, you have to remove the operator seat and the hydraulic sump. And when you go to putting it back together, you might want to consider cleaning off that gasket inna tube, and replacing it with a proper fixed gasket. You should be able to get one from/through any Jinma dealer.<br>

Aeration is 100% excellent advice, I'm sorry I didn't include it in my own post. Aeration lets the thatch layer "breath", and promotes drainage. Core aeration however, is really intended only to prep the lawn for subsequent application of the chemical recipe you get from the agronomists. Otherwise a simple blade aeration is sufficient.

Don't get me started on the Farm Bill, and I'm a retired farmer. About 15 percent of the money in the legislation signed into law Friday will go to farmers to help them grow the food we eat. Most of the other 85% in the almost $100 billion-a-year law will go to food stamps. And of the meager 15% that goes to actual farmers in the form of direct payments, a portion again goes to people [b]who don't even farm anymore[/b]. <br>

Of all the subsidies in the bill, it's the ethanol subsidy that galls me most. Given the success other countries have had refining ethanol from switchgrass and sugar cane/beet residuals, there's no excuse for us to still be making it from corn. There's a massive world market for our corn, so ethanol from other vegetation shouldn't lower corn production figures at all. Instead of burning it - export it. Acreage that the Feds are now paying farmers NOT to grow stuff, could be used for switchgrass and sugar cane/beets. Yet this bunch in Washington still wants to burn what could be somebody else's food.<br>

These tractors were brought in from various Chinese tractor manufacturers and rebranded by the Oregon dealer as TaskMasters. I believe the 426 is a rebranded DongFeng. They also go by the name "DF" or "DFAM"

It's a vented system, so in normal operation it should be self-bleeding. The weak point is the vent itself. Typically it's nothing more than holes drilled into the hydraulic fluid fill plug/dipstick. They can get clogged with dirt, which can restrict and even prevent venting. Twice a year I'd remove my vent/fill plug and soak it in kerosene - then blow out the vent holes with compressed air.

AW46 and 68 are in the 20 weight range. AW/ISO100 is about 30 weight. The most common viscosities are ISO22 (arctic) through 220 (turbine). Extreme condition/specialty fluids are numbered as low as 5 (sub-arctic) and as high as 300 (not sure).

You might consider a Massey-Ferguson 1500 series, but take care that you get one that's assembled in Georgia. Some cut-rate outfits are selling Agcos (Chinese MF) as Masseys. The Farmall B (Case/IH) is another possibility. But like all compact utilities, confirm the country of origin before committing to a purchase.
