Having a problem with the starter. The battery is good and charged.<br>
The solenoid will click but nothing happens. I tried jumping across the solenoid and it clicks but doesn't turn the starter.<br>
To describe what I have is a belt drive starter that looks like an old type generator mounted on top of the engine.<br>
Can I jump the starter without going through the solenoid. I see two heavy duty wires going to the starter. One black and one red. Will I mess something up by applying 12 volts direct to the starter. If it is OK that should tell me if it is the starter or not.<br>
The Gator started, I dove it, shut it off and that was it. Starter would not work after that.<br>

I have worked with the Gator Guy who is pretty sharp. He can get parts also.

New coil and new throttle cable solved the problem. It now runs.
Will not run slow as it bucks. Feels like it is turning on and off. As you press the throttle down thing seem to smooth out and it runs fine.
When you stop it will backfire. (Something new)
Coil didn't have an adjustment but might be the new throttle cable.
Runs pretty bad when trying to go slow.

Hard to say what model it is as John Deere can't even tell me.
Pretty sure it is a 1999 The ID tag say it is a WOOTURF006539 and is called a Gator Turf.
