Agco tractors are made in Italy..the italian family was the
first to make diesel tractors, cira ww2.

Better check on NH..I read that they were made in India.

I just purchased a JD 790, 70 loader, Ag tires, NO mid PTO and a Woods GB60 box blade for $14,600. I'm not sure what the mid PTO and mower is worth, but it seems like a reasonable deal.

I agree, and always try, however I have been screwed by the green dealers in my area and tried elsewhere for prices after this last attempt to trade with them was an insult to my intelligence. One area green dealer did come within $1000 of the not local Kabota dealer [two hours away], but after reading of all the problems with the 4200 on this board, I decided to go to another color anyway. Blue is within 35 min. and red two hours away [the local red is three thousand higher]. They have both been fair with their prices. There is a limit to the financial beating as well as the take it or leave it attitude of dealers in an area with a good economy that one is willing to endure. IMO

Paula, I will be trading a like new 4100 to a dealer in NY soon. Just deciding between red and blue. How much are you going to mow? A 4' hog isn't very big. You may want to go the next size tractor.

Thanks for the input. I had a Kubota B7100 and it was a little tank. I would have kept it but it was just too small. I traded for a green one the dealer swore would do the job, but it turns out it's just a bit underpowered and light for my impending use. The blue and red are close in price but it is a hard choice between them.

I have a 4100 that I don't believe scuffs any more than my B7100 did, and that was very little. My toe in appears to be about an inch.

Check your owners manual. If that is missing in action, a call to eather a JD dealer or a trip to a Central Tractor type store selling manuals should give you tire perameters.

Harold, I am torn between red,yellow and blue as well. I think the yellow is built heavier, but the red will hold its' resale best. The blue dealer isn't very responsive to my needs so far, so I can imagine how it will be after I own his brand and need work done. Green is priced too high around here, and I have a 4100 to trade! Straight dealer from NY hangs around this site from time to time. His name is Art, if you see a post write him. I will probably buy from him if he will include a rear blade in my deal. good luck

I plan on hooking up my tractor to a block heater with a timer for the winter. Since I will be useing it for snow removel the tractor will be on standby more then in use. could this cause condensation problems if the heater is on for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night?

John, Sounds like a real fair price. Sounds like the seller has factored the narrow front into his price. Real bad combination, narrow front and loader!
I would reccomend getting a used J.D. wide front rather than aftermarket mainly because of the loader. They usually run about $1,000 from any tractor salvage and as Roger said changeover is a snap with the right supporting equip. It may be worth having a dealer do it for you. Two hours shop time max. Good luck.
By the way, if you end up with a single 16" front wheel and fork, I'll buy it from you. If it's a tricycle front,(dual wheel)I doubt anyone would want it.

For what I can tell, the differences between the 20 series, 30 series, and boomers in mainly the "skin", the addition of a few (very nice) creature comfort features such as the swivel seat, electric hydrostat lock, etc, and the availability of hydrostat transmission with higher hp engines. I believe the 20's were manufactured by Shimbaru in Japan and imported pretty much assembled. It appears the 30's and boomer's are also manufactured by Shimbaru, but without the hood, fenders, etc., which are added in a final assembly plant in the US (Georgia?).
My only comment about the 1720 is that it won't have a hydrostat, but probably has the 12x12 shuttle. If you are going to use it for mowing or snowremoval with a snowblower, I would strongly recommend a true hydrostat. The hydro will save time mowing and snowblowing is easier when you can instantly vary the ground speed to maintain the proper snow feed rate. For typical loader work, I understand the shuttle works great.

I agree with Vince. In addition, I believe the 1720 and 1920 did not have hydrostat transmissions available, they have either manual gear or the 12x12 SSS (synchronized shuttle shift) transmissions.
