Dennis, very sorry to hear about your dog. I think you are making the right decision in not making your dog go through the amputation and chemo route. My Border Collie had kidney failure in her latter years. I kept her alive with medication and system flushing for the last year but she had no quality of life. In hind sight I wish I had put her down sooner.

Enjoy him while you can and may his spirit live on with you as you remember all the good times you have had with him the past 6 plus years.

Thanks Dennis for the tip on the Herd spreader. I prefer a spreader mounted on my atv over a pull type. The Herd is the only atv mounted one I have found that has a agitator to keep seed or fertilizer from bridging as it flows out. They are spendy but probably worth the extra money.

I have been thinking about buying a chipper/shredder to take of trimmings from shrubs and tree prunings. I have a lot of trimmings from artic willow shrubs and quite a number of limbs from tree prunings, 1-3 inch diameter. I have been looking at the residential Echo-Bearcat chipper/shredders. Has any one had any experience with these chipper/shredders or any other brand they would recommend for residential use? I know that Bearcat has a small one with a Subaru engine that does up to 2" limbs and another one with a Briggs engine for a little more money that does 3" limbs. Any thoughts on this subject.<br>

I traded for a L3800 with a 524FEL and a 60" rotary cutter in September and I have about 25 hours on it. I have had no problems and I am very happy with it. The backhoe would have been a nice addition but I couldn't justify the
extra cost. Enjoy your tractor and all the attachments.

I second Ken's message of appreciation to all those that have served our country. I did not serve myself but I appreciate all of those including my son that have. My thoughts and prayers also go out to those familys that have lost love ones in helping preserve our freedom.

For part time work I sell telescoping flagpoles and flags at home shows and fairs. My best customers are Veterans. They have a lot of respect for Old Glory. When I see that respect it sure helps restore my faith in the USA.

I have picked up a lot of good tips, too many to mention all of them but probably the one I use most was the one for the receiver hitch attachment for my loader bucket. I use it every time I move my dump trailer in and out of my tight fitting shed. Other good ones have been the Payne forks for my loader and the B. R. receiver hitch already mentioned by K.S.

I must say I have gotten back much more that I have contributed. I really appreciate all those that do contribute.

Thanks for the tip. For some reason I was thinking the Grand L 40 series were in the 40-60hp so I never ever looked at the specs. Your L3540 looks like a step up from the L3400 and will make you a nice tractor.

I was thinking more of an electric space heater like Greg-G has but it sounds like they are not very effective. We would use it mostly in our master bathroom/bedroom area which actually about 500 sf. My wife spends 2-3 hours in this area every morning and she likes it warm and toasty. We have a geothermal heat pump which is not a real warm heat unless you turn it and heat the whole house which we don't want to do.

I had read that some of those box infared heaters like the Eden Pure air were suppose to heat up to 800 sf. Also read some reviews on them that said basically the same thing Greg said. I may try a cheaper convection space heater and see how they do.

Thanks Dennis, they were hidden out there. I am not sure what I did to my screen to cause them to be hidden.

I am like a lot (but not all) of the older generation when it comes to computer knowledge or should I say the lack thereof.

Have had the same experience with ethanol in my vehicles. Hurts even more because I do a lot of my traveling selling flagpoles from January to April.

Well last Saturday my neighbor helped me get the tire off and I took the tire in to the local tire dealer. They put a tube in it and filled it with liquid and air. Brought it back home and mounted it on the tractor. Everything was good except profile of the repaired tire was about a half inch higher than the other tire. By then it was too late to do anything so I parked the tractor back in the shed for the night. Sunday evening I was out in my shed and I noticed another puddle of liquid that was coming from the valve stem of the repaired tire.

Yesterday I stopped in the tire dealer and told them what was happening. The manager said they would send a service truck out to check the leak. I told them to bring a another tube and put it in the other tire. The service truck showed up this morning and put new tubes in both tires. Now the tractor sits level and as of tonight there are no signs of any leaks. Hopefully the end of the story.

Lesson learned: Next time call a service truck like some of you suggested. The service truck guy was experienced in working with bigger tires like tractor tires. Not sure of the same about the guys working at the shop in the store.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a small puddle of liquid by one of the back tires on my TC 24DA. Just assumed it was rain water that had blown in under the door until today when I was back out in my shed and noticed the puddle was much larger. Couldn't see where it was leaking out of the tire so I decided to drive the tractor out on the driveway to take a closer look. Liquid just poured out at the rim seal at certain point on the tire when it reached the low point of rotation.<br>

Tractor is 3 plus years old and has 175 hrs so the tires are in good shape. Dealer said it was possibly caused by a loose valve stem.<br>

Loaded tires are OK until something like this happens.<br>
My question is what are some other possible causes and fixes? Havn 't had a chance to call a tire dealer.

Turned out to be a low battery caused by burned out fuse not keeping the battery charged. Not sure why the oil foamed out when it came down. Anyway the local trailer shop charged up the battery, checked the fluid and found the burned out fuse and replaced it. Everything works fine now. Oh yea, the best news was they only charged me $10. Not bad considering I didn't buy the trailer from them.

We have a smooth top (white) GE electric. I do most all of the cooking and I like it fine especially when it comes to clean up. So far no scratches or problems after 4 years.

I have heard a lot of people say they like gas better for cooking but we have never had gas available so have always had electric.
