OK, ive seen pictures of worklights on rops, on the sides of rops, top of rops, etc. Holes drilled into rops, brackets welded to rops etc. On my mf with folding rops, and in my manuals, there are warnings everywhere not to drill, mount or weld anything to the rops because of warranty and safety. Is this just my tractor because of folding rops or is everyone else ignoring the safety warnings? Because i would really like to mount some lights too!!!

I prefer to bottom plow my plots first and let them sit for a while, then run my tiller through to level and puverize, this works good in my area, clay to topsoil and some rock. In some cases I may need to use my lp 6' boxblade to regrade for erosion damage, terraces etc. before soil turnover. In the case of landscaping, that is what i do for a living. So do you mean seeding a lawn, planting shrubs and trees or what? I like to rough grade with my boxblade, till six inches deep, and the either power rake or drag before seeding. I guess my two most used imps would be the boxblade and tiller, you cant go wrong with that combo...

I am a landscaper, and plan on buying a hoe in a couple of years, has anyone seen the new landpride hoes, they look awesome, any expierence and prices? MF makes (or at least sells a red one with MF on it) its own hoe for my tractor, any hands on exp.? I have used a compact hoe on a cub cadet i rented a few years ago and was very impressed at the amount of digging power for such a small hoe. I also want to put a jiffy baller on the end of my hoe (a small machine to selectively dig and pot small evergreen trees), anybody else use anything like this? Also, how would the subframe interact with my subframe on my fel, and can i still use all my regular imps? My hyd. flow rate is somewhere in the 6.5 gpm??? would i need a pto pump, and how much work is it to hook all this up and unhook from a backhoe to a power rake on the jobsite? My tractor is a mf1240 w/ 1446 fel... Any serious non offensive debates are completely welcome !!! Thanks in advance!#?

Go with the massey, period. The parts availbility is just as good, but less expensive, and if it is more comfortable, you will be happier to use the machine. When I got my new tractor about a year ago, it was one of the hardest decisions I thaught i would ever make, now after using it for a year the only thing i worry about is being comfotable after six hours of sitting on the machine...And I am on my massey...

well, i have baught the kk tiller a few weeks ago, and i am very impressed. The only problem now is i am out of places to till up!!! I have tilled about two acres so far, some for garden, some for new lawn, and I love the machine. The slip clutch works great, and it tills very deep. I run my 2 bottom over it first of course. I hit a huge rock (2x3x1) and the slipclutch worked great. It leaves a very good finish, even when wet or sod. Very easy to hook up on my tractor. The finish is not much to be desired(paint) but the unit is solid. I am wondering if landpride isnt pricing themselves out of the market. No offense, i have lp equip to and i love it as well. But im sick of paying out the nose for it!

I use a R400 Kubota aticulated loader at work (nurserey), and ever since i have worked there the loader has had a problem with the inching/brake pedal. When you want to inch forward the pedal catches or "clicks" kinda. Its very difficult to move slowly forward in inches, usually it jerks forwards about three to six inches no matter how gentle you are. We have had our respective Kubota dealer out many times to fix it, the last time he put a whole new hyd. thingy? in and the next day in the field it was the same way. My boss ties a string to a piece of likage to hold it up and that works better but it does not last long. Also there is a noise from the drive train, like a tooth is missing from the pinion or something, when you are in second or third gear. We had that fixed as well, but to no avail...Its not the u-joints. Please help!!! The loader has over 4000 hours on it and is still strong(good maintence), Thanks.

I have r4's on my MF1240, but they seem to be so small. All the other tractors in its class(1250,1260,1433,1440)all have larger tires. In the owners manual it says to replace with identical size tires. I know larger tires would fit because i measured the larger tires and the clearence on my fenders etc. So, can I put a set of larger R4's on my tractor or not?

$Try a machine shop, sometimes they can make the part for you at a fraction of the cost. Ive had lots of sucess with my local machine shops and fabricators.$ green thumb tiller

I do not own a 1455, but I did look at them and I thaught they were great tractors. I read an article last summer about one that a landscaper had. He used to have a ford but traded it in for a massey because he could go up in HP but still have a compact tractor. Hope this helps...

I just purchased my MF1240 in August of 02, and my dealer had an entire line of the 1400 series. The specs are all almost identical, except for tires etc...I did not get that much of a better deal buying a phasing out model and it did take my dealer a week or so to locate a 12oo series with what I wanted on it. If I had to do it over I would get the 1400 series simply becase it is a newer model. But my 1240 is one tough machine. I am very happy with my Massey, and I wouldnt trade it for orange, blue, or green!!! Best of decision making.

Ive gotten several jobs recently to install new lawns on an old corn field, and I was wondering how everybody else is preparing the soil. Usually I can find a farmer with a soil finisher, but the time is comming soon when I will have to buy my own imps. I have a 28hp massey (1240). Should I use a Disc, plow, powerrake, till, pulverize, drag, what are other people using these days? I typacally do 1-3 acre jobs. Thanks!

I have been working in the landscape industry for over ten years, four of wich have been at a nursurey. We dig, plant mow, spray, cultivate, till, plow, grade, undercut, haul, and many more tasks. There is NO WAY we can do any of this on a small comercial scale with only one machine.

I am also starting a tree/landscape business in the years to come, so I know what your talking about. But please take my advice, do not dig trees with a tractor, use a skid steer or articulated loader. We use three basic sizes of machine at our nursery, 1)a compact tractor for general maintence, 2)a large farm tractor for planting, undercutting, etc, 3)an articulated loader for digging with a tree spade, backhoe work, pallette moving, and of course moving and loading trees with a pair of hydraulic nursery jaws. I know its a lot of equipment, but its the only way we can do so many tasks all in the spring...
