Just acquired a Lincoln 225 stick welder almost new for $190. Now I guess I need some protective gloves, auto darkening helmet, smock, plug adapter for range receptacle on my northerntool 10Kw generator (12kw surge).

Then I guess I can start to have some fun. I am thinking of some simple jobs on my trailer to start. If that goes OK maybe a snow plow for my 4310. My tractor work income this year has almost all gone to equipment, toys, and repairs :).

I have the original Galaxy 7" tab. I really liked it, but don't read books on it and I'm sure its much better with the 3rd generation. I have had good luck with Samsung products.

I agree proper tow vehicle would be more fun. I was trying to convince the wife that a pickup was in order. Instead we ended up with a new subaru outback :) Both of my vehicles were 12 years old, the Jeep only had 45000 miles on it. If and when I ever get the $ again I will be in the market for a pickup.

I finally managed to break the post hole digger output shaft free. I soaked with PB Blaster, liquid wrench and then dug holes without shear bolt with no success. I then went to the internet, created a 50/50 mix of transmission fluid and acetone, poured around output shaft and let sit overnight. Next day I dug hole without shear bolt and the output shaft came free from the auger! Hooray.

I have the answer. I purchased the PTO shaft rated for 16 hp. It almost lasted 2 years. Yesterday the universal cross broke from the torque when I engaged the PTO. It had probably weakened or cracked over time. Lesson learned!

Good idea about the mirror KT. I took the boat out today with new battery. No problems this time. Just really wierd how it failed in the middle of use. I agree, they must be making them differently!

Thanks Harvey. I can't begin tapping the 401K yet. Also, the big corporation capped my retirement income years ago so its just enough to pay taxes and health care. I am one of the lucky ones. Today's younger employees get a 5% salary match and thats it - no 401K.

We are going to have to learn to live on less. This was a gamble that I could lose or just remain even. After watching buddies peel away with cancer I just decided that I would rather have less and end my years being more in charge of my time.

Abbas, my JD 430 loader leaks down like yours. If I leave the bucket loaded and I have it in position holding stone for me while I am working on the ground I have to watch and run over and periodially lift the bucket.

It has been this way since new. There are old discussions on leakdown in this forum where it was acknowledged that JD had bucket leak down but not 3pt leak down. Kubota has 3pt leak down but no bucket leak down.

Thanks KT and Auer, interesting that although the insurance company can send an adjuster out they don't even wait for his assessment. Interesting that they are not obligated to the adjuster.

Frank, I'm with you. My buddies always tell me they can "watch the grapes grow" when I drive. The problem is that folks never leave on time. I would rather leave 10 minutes early and then take a nice casual drive. Unfortunately my wife always has us leaving 5 minutes late.

I was actually a more more nervous driver when I was young. Reason being that now I take every legal heart, cholesterol, beta blocker drug known to mankind. So the next time you see a 60ish person barreling down the highway at 80 mph be aware of what might happen with a temporary lapse of conciousness.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! Dennis, I was thinking of the same idea only with a towbar for my lawnmower. Unfortunately the little wonder belongs to my neighbor and I hesitate to mess with his machine. And he wants me to use it to pay me back for assist I give him at times.

I don't mind crushed leaves in my lawn but I think it makes the soil acidic so probably a little lime where you chop the leaves is in order for the grass in the spring. I saw one person who used his york rake to scrape the leaves off the lawn. But I imagine you have to be very careful not to tear up your lawn.

OK - thanks Ken. Obviously I know little about electricity even though my Dad ran a power plant and my BIL builds power plants. The tractor is still running fine so the K6 module was the problem.

Did I spell it right? So my son joins the army - we missed the fact that we aren't supposed to be sending any food. We sent a box of cookies, candy bars etc. According to my son, the sergeant intercepted the goodies and ate them in front of my son, and made him do extra work to earn the remaining cookies.<br>

So my son calls us - for the 2 minutes or so he is allowed, tells us not to send any more food, and we tell him we are sorry, we just sent him a box twice the size of the one he already received!! Gee Whiz!
