You should replace the fuel filters instead of just looking at them. I had a Mercedes that would run just fine until I went up a hill of put a load on it. Turn it off for a few minutes and it would work again. Seems that the filter picked up dirt while fuel was flowing when running and then would fall of when fuel stopped flowing. Never had another problem after replacing the filter.

As another had said, check the piston cylinders. Pull the cover off the side and clean out anything from in there. For some reason here the mice love to build their nests inside my covers when the tractor sits without being used.

One of the 250AS's I have came with only one line going back besides the two for the 3pt hitch. And to top it off it was capped. Guess they were trying to cut costs? I found a line from one in the salvage yard which would be the best place to find one or they ebay. I drained the fluid from the system which was to be motor oil and replaced it with hydraulic fluid. This works just fine and if I hook something up to the tractor I don't cross contaminate the other tractors.

Some of the other Belarus tractors had quick disconnects of a sort on the lines to the lift cylinder so you could lock the 3pt in place and have another set of remotes.

If you have a volt meter or a test light you can check at the starter that you have power there. Make Sure that it is out of gear and brakes applied/chocked. You should have power at the large terminal at all times, small terminal when switch is in start position. If nothing then check battery terminals and ground. Another check is to use a remote start switch or heaven forbid a screw driver from the battery terminal on the starter to the small terminal, this should engage the starter.

Pictures of the tractor helps, we are sort of blind otherwise. The plastic bottle sounds like the windshield washer. If this is the same as the belarus then it has glow plugs, first stop on the key switch energizes them and then turn more to crank engine. No automatic timer, turn, hold and count then crank. As for a block heater best you can do is get some of those magnetic ones to clamp on the oil pan.

Not sure how many hours are on the tractor. I had bought it on Ebay from a couple of fellows in Ohio and it was inop. It had a mess of problems when I got it home, injection pump was messed up, injectors buggered up, fuel lines bent up and other problems I try not to think about. When I finally got it running it had lots of blow-by, so much you had to pay close attention to the oil. But it ran well and had lots of power, just hard to start sometimes. I think that someone went heavy on the ether trying to start her. You should never have to use ether on these tractors with it have the decompression lever.

I just replaced the pistons and rings, used the original cylinders, no damage to them. Just ran a hone through them.

After my last reply I started up one of my 250's to find that I was leaking diesel out of the vent as well when I had it at full speed. I drained all the diesel and oil from the pump by removing the drain plug on the bottom and the filled it with oil till it ran out of the side plug. It has not leaked diesel from the vent since. I can't say why this would be. You would think that if it leaks it would continue to do so. Could be that after a time of not running diesel fills the pump and when run this way will leak more? Sorry if I jumped the gun too soon at the pump being bad not that I see mine does the same. Come spring I will have forgotten what was done this year and start all over on the hamster wheel.

Did you order a new plate? If so take a look at it to see why it may be hard to remove the old one. I had wanted to remove that plate from one of mine and it would not budge and felt it better to leave well enough alone. The parts illustration does not show it well, by looking at that it would seem to be just a flat plate. Take a photo of the new one if you get one.

If you did not already order a new plate then I would still advise to leave it in place. Just replace the seal and if there is a gap towards towards the top or anywhere around the seal them personally I would seal it with JB weld or silicone and leave it. There is no force or oil pressure on the seal, only there to keep the oil in the trans.

Give us some photos if you do take the plate off.

It may be kicking out of gear, did you have it in high or low range? High kick out easy, one of mine had a problem with that. Low will not normally kick out because it engages better.

Each side has a axle shaft and they are different, all the other parts are interchangeable side to side but the axle is not.

The differential sends power to the axle with least resistance. When my axle broke it turned that shaft but it didn't do anything. the diff lock does just that, it locks both axles together and they turn as one at the same speed. that is why it is had to turn when they are locked. so if you have power to the transmission, pto works, and nether wheel turns when having it in locked, then ether h/l or, f/r or the main gear is in neutral.

take a look at the zip file of pictures I linked of the broken axle and here is some of the problem I had with high kicking out along with a brake job. they might help to see what it looks like before you get into it.

here are some links for a 250AS which uses a 2 cylinder instead of your 4 but it will give you an idea. Specs should be the same. Try posting the question on the Yahoo group page, there may be something in the files section.<br>

Hello,

I don't have a 520 but I do have a couple Belarus. I recommend that when you get a piece of machinery stop by a car wash on your way home or pressure wash it at home. That way you can see what you have and where problems may be. I believe that the hydraulic controls are located above the bell housing and they are know to leak. Get a manual when you get a chance. I don't have one for this but do try to scan them and post them for others to use. Here is a link that my help you, may be close enough to help.

If you did not change the settings of gears 4 and 6, then you do not have to change the pump timing when replacing the pump.

Have you bleed the fuel system? You can unscrew the cap on the hand plunger and pump it until you feel resistance. That should prime the system. When starting the tractor, move the hand throttle until you see the foot peddle go down a little. If you do not do this then the fuel may be cut off, remember this is how the engine is stopped.

I just bought a project tractor and the plate says its a T25A1 ser 53392. The tach drive cover is broken and the drive plate,inside that is mounted to the gear is missing. The oil filler casing was broken and repaired. It had been replaced using one SAE bolt and RTV. How much play should there be on the pump drive gear? As the engine is turned over the gear moves forward and back, is that normal? <br>

Can the engine been run without the tach drive plate installed?<br>

Any idea as to the year this was made? Does anyone have a parts listing of the dash, seat, throttle linkage and other different areas compared to the 250AS model? The parts, service and owners manual I have are for the 250AS.<br>

I am looking for the torque pattern for the G176 engine. The IT manual states to go in a circle pattern but I would think that it should be like the Continental TM engine where you tighten above the cylinders first and then along the left side at the push rods last. I have a manual from Jensales but for some reason the section for the gas motor is missing. Does anyone have that section of the MF 65 manual?<br>

The other questions I have is where does the stud/head bolt go on the manifold side of the head? I didn't pay attention when I removed the head. There was only one. The tractor did not have the heat shields for the gas tank or the manifold. Would anyone have photos of these?<br>
