vettman--ya should be o.k. w/80 ft-lbs. torque--if ye ever have to do your rears go up to 100 ft-lbs. torque--JMHO

john 70--post is over a year old but you have a good point-I live on a hill in bullitt co. kentucky and have a paved drive w/gate half way up. just the other day I thought 'bout murf's comments and tried to hold the 3130GST in gear w/o brakes applied--no way--tractor WILL roll--you have to apply brake to keep it still. and yes if you are going down a steep hill and accidently throw the gear shift lever in neutral (which i have done) it will scare you. tractors are dangerous--each one is different-it's critical you familarize yourself w/it and keep alert!

my best tip was a toothbar but I remember the stihl 192 that Chief told us about. I couldn't afford it so I bought a ms170--nice saw. also remember him and Drankin leaving the forum over trivial stuff---glad they came back. we don't need that kind 'o stuff here. have learned so much here. thanks to all and remember our vets--everyone be safe this summer.

update on repaired cylinder---pd. kubota dealer $70 for 1 hr. work to put seal kit in cyl. almost 2 wks. later and no leaks--am happy camper execpt for last fri. the wife and I rec'd. our federal tax refund in the mail($1842). WOOPEE!!! I thought I could get the other cyl. done now. WRONG!!!!-- wifie said we needed the money to pay for the new hardwood floor we just put down. still waiting for her stimulus ck. to arrive though. lol

not straying from the original question too much but IMMHO I would go with the L model in the 30 hp simply 'cause that's all I've ever had---other than the f-cubs--and time being on yer side it is sufficient to do the job!!!!

shedding more light on this, my L3130 723 loader 6'bucket w/tooth bar will lift my '55 chevy front end up enough to block it with no trouble. that said it will barely lift a full bucket of dirt high enough to load my single axle dump truck.lol. chas.

I've had my front ags foam filled for almost 3 yrs. now and no problems with the steering on the L3130GST 4X4 w/723 loader. best thing I ever did. rears too. expensive but no flats and lotsa weight. I don't abuse the tractor.

I don't have the chain deflectors on my bb60 but it has a slip clutch. Bought it new 2yrs. ago for $850 from the same dealer I bought my L3130GST. Dealer said it had some rust spots on it so he cut me a deal. Later researched and sure enough it costs around $900 plus at most dealers and $1100 to $1200 at some dealers. Unless you have some really heavy duty work you don't need a bb600. The bb60 is an awesome rotary cutter. Can't help you with the price on the bb600.

Blueman-$5900 is a little steep for a '98 polaris. Let your dad borrow your '05 honda foreman and buy him a small trailer. He can haul more than that rtv and have more fun. The 500 polaris is a solid machime on the other hand. Keep it in low range and belts are no problem. Windshield is a must in cold weather. Brushguard ain't bad either. 270 hrs. on an eight y.o. machine is nothing. Just serviced mine last nite. '04 sportsman 500HO 292.7 hrs.

no valve and no mid pto--rt.head lite doesn't work and left tail lite lens missing. pity, I just sold my extra mid pto. nothing else wrong with the tractor as far as I could see.
