Has anyone had experience repairing a 48 BH control valve? I have a small leak but all else is working fine. A full repair kit is ~$200 and a new valve $1800. Are there rebuild shops or rebuilt control valves that one can simply "replace"?<br>
Or can one work on only the valve section that needs repair without totally removing the whole valve manifold?<br>

Just wondered if your felt you needed caps or plugs to seal off the free hose ends and input connectors to the valve block while you removed and worked on it?

Having gone to Vanderbilt and bought my first horses in Lexington I appreciated your pictures.

Sounds like you have done the oil change before....thanks for the advise. Especially the added oil volumes.....I do not live next to the dealer.

Following discussion on foam filled tires, found a dealer near Medford, Or that uses Carpenter foam ( TF 23 a&b). On my 4310 with 25-8.5-14 it takes ~85 lbs. per tire. Estimate of $1.25 per lbs. Pick up Fri and will post results/experience.

Answering my own questions. A 4310 with 420 loader is not compatible with JD 74 front blade system. JD does make a BW14677 Boom mounted front blade for the 429,430, and 460. You can added a hydraulic angling kit. Waiting for delivery now.

Since the tires were CaCl filled I have noticed both a rust color to the water as I check the tire pressures and rush around the vlave stems. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Thanks for the insights. Yes, I bought a 4310 with 420 ands 48 backhoe. Have had a few hours of experience and yes, it is a fine machine. I appreciate your sharing thoughts and experience.
