Inner tubes are rated for a range of sizes. If you find one that is close to what you need, it will more than likely work for you.

I have one inner tube here that fits four different tire sizes.

It appears that I've found one that spans the size you need.....but there may be others listed on Ebay. Shop around for the other sizes listed under this heading.

If you're willing to take the time and spend a few dollars on parts, you'll gain a huge amount of actual hands-on experience with the pump. (or even a chainsaw) The experience, alone, is worth a whole lot to a guy like me, because I have no access to a repair shop within 120 miles of me.

The way I look at projects of this sort is that if you were to take a class on rebuilding a pump, you'd pay a great deal of money for the training.......but spending a few rainy days in the shop.....even if you fail......is worth SOMETHING.

My theory is DIG IN. You won't hurt a thing by trying. Youtube has some of the best teachers in the world.....and it's all free.

Low oil pressure is a good sign of internal engine wear. The increased gap (due to wear) between the rods and crank......as well as the gap between the mains and crankshaft will allow oil to escape. When this happens, the pressure drops significantly.

A heavier engine oil may get you by for a while.......but the fat lady is warming up behind the curtains.

I agree with your plan of attack here. Since this tractor is new to you, I'd let the dealer have the first shot at figuring out the problem, as well as how to make things right with you.

From the information you've provided to this point, I'd be demanding a different tractor. It sounds to me as though this one hasn't received the best (if any) regular maintenance. Stand your ground.

A good place to start would be Tractorhouse.com. This is always a good place to start when looking for a current market value for most any tractor.

Private sellers will usually ask just a bit more than the trade-in value they received from a local dealer. Dealers will ask a few thousand dollars more than the trade-in value they quote.

I see a day when all of our steel fuel tanks become a thing of the past. At some point, we'll all be using these bags for fuel storage. <br>

A number of issues will have to be addressed. Fuel theft will become a concern, as will re-filling. Fuel suppliers will need special fittings on the delivery hoses that will allow them to mate up with the fuel bags.<br>

Like you, I'd love to have one of these bags. This would allow me to keep a few hundred gallons on hand. I shy away from keeping too much fuel around, due to the concerns we discussed earlier. It would be nice to be able buy a year's supply of fuel when the prices drop.<br>

Danny,

Before you get too deep into this project, you might want to check to be sure that you don't have a bad oil pump, or a plugged oil filter. Additionally, you'll want to be sure that all of your oil passages (mains, rods, etc.) are clear.

It's entirely possible that switching to synthetic oil could have produced a good engine scrubbing for you, allowing all of that gunk to plug up your lubricating system.

You are correct. Each time your relief valve opens, a large amount of heat is generated.

In a perfect world, your splitter shouldn't go into bypass until the cylinder reaches the end of its stroke. There are exceptions to this, such as when attempting to split through a very stubborn crotch in a hunk of firewood.

If your splitter is frequently going into bypass during a normal splitting cycle, you'll need to increase the pressure setting.

This is done by loosening the locking nut and then turning the screw clockwise 1/4 turn at a time, until the desired maximum pressure is reached. To reach maximum pressure, you'll need to extend the splitter's cylinder to max length, then leave it there. Continue to run the cylinder out after each 1/4 turn on the screw. You should be able to watch the pressure increase on your gauge, until you're happy with it.

An infrared thermometer is a very useful tool when troubleshooting electrical shorts. <br>

Current flow creates creates quite a bit of heat. By using an infrared thermometer, you may be able to find the short very easily. <br>

The next best method is to use the process of elimination. This can be done by removing fuses, which will eliminate certain circuits. With a simple DC voltmeter, you should be able to watch the battery voltage drop until one of the fuses is pulled. At that point, you'll then know which circuit is causing the problem.<br>

Issues of this type are usually related to cavitation problems taking place in the hydraulic pump.

Cavitation can be caused by several things, either individually, or through a combination of things.

Air bubbles in the oil, caused by cavitation, will make it nearly impossible for the pump to develop any useful oil pressure. I have a good feeling that this is your problem, due to the fact that your pump seems to be working fine when cold.

Cavitation can be caused by starving the pump of fluid, which happens when you have a plugged sump screen. It can also be caused by using the incorrect hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluids containing detergents will quickly foam up, preventing the pump from building pressure. Water in the oil can cause these problems, as well.

When troubleshooting hydraulic problems, many people jump immediately to the pump as being the culprit, but this is rarely the case.

When was the last time you performed a complete fluid and filter change? Are you using the proper fluid? Have you attempted to remove and clean the sump screen.....provided this applies to your tractor?

I found a video on Youtube of a man adjusting the valve clearances on a John Deere 4-cyl diesel. While the specs will not apply to your engine, the process of adjusting the valves is explained, and you can get a good taste of the procedure.

With a little searching, you might be able to find a video explaining how to go about this on a 3-cylinder engine.....but it's really pretty much the same on any engine.

My new Kubota has a two-speed rear PTO. There's only one output shaft, with the standard 540 rpm 1-3/8" 6T spline adapter. I can connect any 540 rpm implement and run it at 960 rpm.....but I don't do that with most implements.

Snowblowers, tillers, mowers..etc....require max power from the tractor. I use the 540 rpm for these implements, while running the engine at full throttle.

Yes, you could put a 4 foot rotary mower behind a 60 hp tractor and power it with the 1000 rpm output, while running the tractor at half-throttle, but you'd make several more trips around the yard before finishing.

After totaling up the additional hours on the tractor, as well as engine oil changes and other maintenance items, I don't really see any savings........or what little savings there would be wouldn't amount to much.

You touched on something that really hit home with me.

Summers are short here in North Dakota. With only three or four months available for outdoor work activities, I need to get a whole lot done every single day.

If I needed three weekends to repair a tractor, that would consume 1/4 of my summer months.......which is time I can't afford to lose.

I bought a tractor so that I could get my work done sooner. Taking time to fix the tractor kills me twice......because I'm not getting my summer work done.......and I'm spending precious time working on a tractor, when there's other things I should be doing.

It was 1 degree above zero here again last night. Summer is going to come late, I believe.

Most steering valves are off-the-shelf valves, and are commonly available from most hydraulic suppliers.

You'll need to know how many gallons per minute your steering pump delivers, so that you can properly match that to a valve that will handle the flow. You'll also need to know the bolt pattern for the mounting bolts, and the port sizes for your hose connections. Armed with this information, you'll be able to find a suitable power steering valve at the following link.

The steering on your 3000 must be hydraulic power steering....I'm guessing.

If so, you have what's called a steering valve located somewhere just below the steering wheel.

Your steering valve has hydraulic hoses attached to it.

It's likely that your steering valve has blown a seal. There could be a problem with your system that create the pressure necessary to blow the seal.......or it may have just failed due to age.
