Thanks for all that, I'll try to fill in the gaps a little.

I'm from the UK but have this tractor at a cottage we have in France, so maybe the model number does tie up with US models?

The ground is fairly open but we have planted quite a few specimen trees plus a small orchard, so there is a little to-ing and fro-ing, the HST is a dream for that. So the question about the manual gearbox was really whether it so much more work than the auto and whether it takes a lot more time to make frequent back and forward operations. Usage of a stick gearbox is not an issue at all.

The B7100HST does not like the steep incline, I'll guess it's maybe 20% so not dangerous but steep. It has a mid mounted 60" 3 blade Kubota grass cutter which appears to use a fair amount of power? As the tractor gets properly warm, after maybe an hour, the power drops off gradually, although not completely. I must say though that the power up the incline does not give me a lot of confidence even when cold. The wheels do not spin out unless it's damp.
It's a 2wd but with a diff lock, but spinning wheels isn't the problem, it's the power to climb the incline.

The original question still is will a much newer B2110 (with 4wd) be so much better, if only for the power increase and on occassion for the 4wd. I haven't seen this tractor yet so don't know how well they are built compared to the older ones which I think are remarkable. Also there is the fact that spending a whole lot more money at the moment can only be justified if a new tractor will give a much superior perfomance.

Randy that's great, and seeing it in print stirs a distant memory and I sort of recognise those details.
Thank you very much indeed, hope I can do the same for somebody one day.

We are about to get our first snow of the winter here in London, and strangely also at our home in central France, but have seen that the US has had plenty of snow already this winter, I supoose except the south.
