Have a problem -snowdrifts in under my 10ft slider door at times creating a wonderful mess :-( . I'm faced sometimes with a 2-3 foot wide 4 inch deep pile to shovel out. granted i know its 'the barn' and 'dirt/messes happen' there,just don't need any extra to clean up. I've got about a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom of slider and edge of floor. Any ideas of what might possbily can be use to block and still allow ease of movement of door? also any ideas on weathersealing the other edges of the slider.

This series of posts got me to wonder.. as I have the Woods SB60. I pulled out my copy of the owners manual dated '96 w/rev '98 (xerox copy from dealer file)and it covers the 52, 60 and 74 sizes. according to the nice illustrations ;-) the pto drive shaft has a shear bolt at the pto end, a shear bolt on the sprocket on the auger shaft. As to the gear box Hardwood is correct the pto drives a straight thru shaft to the fan. from the 'nice' illustrations it appears correct the gear have keys and so does the fan whichis held on to the shaft by the bolt. Hope this helps- and hope I'm not too late with info. Also the trouble shooting page says "does not dischrge properly" caused by insuffient fan speed must be 540 pto Or auger overloaded-reduce grd spd...Busy clearing my yard from this last 9" snow. The dealer at first wanted to charge me for the manual as i had bought the unit used privately but the salemans that sold me my NHtractor and other Woods implements steped in and said free. Makes me like the dealership even more.

The first winter in our new home i seen in the distance a big tractor with one of the 'monster snowblower units'(double auger etc) cleaning out peoples drives. I was getting dressed to go out and use my 8hp Toro. Before i knew it that tractor was coming down my 500ft drive. I was like " dang-how much is this going to cost me!" I got out and met the gentleman he said "welcome to the area" and I'm "thank you and okay how much'? he said "nothing-winter is his playtime and has to give his toys a workout". Found out he did about "2 country blocks" for many years. He lved the next country block north of me. Many times we would come home from work and find the drive cleared. Itwas nice and did a great job and no problems in spring with stone etc. Problem was I wanted to "play in the snow too" and just didn't feel right about 'imposing' and getting use to expecting it. He didn't ever want anything in return or money for the fuel. I found a used Woods unit in the local weekly paper used one winter for $900 nearly new condition. has been a good unit except the skid shoes are a bit narrow, will be modifying them.

I've got a '96 dodge 1500 that does something similar. If it sits for a few days (read week or two- not best mpg ) and try driving it the shift points seem far aapart and the engine seems to wind out for quite a while before shifting. When i do drive it daily or every other day it shifts on cue etc. -- someone told me theres a electronic 'brain' which monitors your driving pattern and then programs itself according. I' don't know if they are funning me but it seems to make sense with all the electronic stuff on them.

There is no washing in the "gulley" -its the best I can descibe the terrain and what i have in mind of doing. Hmmm box blade . think I can rent one? or could I use a york/landscape rake? The 'CFO' has determined no more 'toys' or start emptying the barn of the other "tools/toys''--. Seat time of a "day" problably be two for me time i get the hang of moving and spreading dirt over that area .

I bought a pkg -BB60 Woods cutter and woods Gt60 tiller
back in 2001. The BB60 came with optional chain deflectors for $968.00 but it's shear pin.( after the first year of going thru 3 pins- haven't had to change pin since. After chnging them twice and you have spares handy its a quick changeover)

Just a thought from my former tractor a 7274 had front axle rebuilt twice within 3 months- seems the factory/parts ctr sent 1/2 of the wrong parts even tho they fit and things turned (the authorized repair shop even didn't catch the error) until it barfed the second time. Left wheel bearing,diff internal pieces parts, gear -carrier(major wrong part). Parts may look and say interchangeable,be very wary and try to keep exact match parts. If the bearing keeps wearing -could spindle be bent? even slightly, or tire size correcet ? rim running true? wish ya the best.

I'm getting a bit perplexed--Just saw the following tag on the fuel pump at the station (diesel pump)" Low Sulphur Highway Diesel Fuel, (500ppm sulphur max), Warning, Federal Law prohibits use in model year 2007 and later highway vechicles and engines. Its use may damage these vechicles and engines" .<br>
Okay I get the idea lower sulphur fuel is coming and higher sulpher may cause problems to the 'new' engines. But what will happen to us with older engines that run on the higher sulphur diet. Will our engines run with the low and ultra-low sulphur fuels or will we have to buy extra (expensive) additives? any help direction would be apprciated. I can count on a number of great guys and gals out there that will have an opinion or two with some hard info. thks

Just an observeation , my brother 30x40x10pole barn has metal roof -a light misting rain sounds like a Major weather event let alone the occaisonal acorn -sounds deafing. Also condensation on inside can prove annoyance at times. I put up a 30x60x10 shingle roof and osb side with vinyl(wife wanted barn to match house). Got one slider on gable end, 2 overhead doors,& svc door on long side and 4 winodws on the other gable end. split up in thirds window end woodshop/general tinker, middle bay 'grease monkey work' and last bay the tractor and implements plus boat

The fill material sounds like what I had availble and used for base for my driveway pad25x50 and barn30x60 (sandy, some lightgravel and some clay type veins an old timer told me they it called 'bank run'). My concrete contractor told me to make sure I mixed it up before or during the buildup to get a more 'uniform'blend & compaction. I built up the areas in aseries of lifts and compacted the area by driving over it with the tractor (w/load in the bucket) and also dragging the bucket w/ some down pressure back across to level out the bumps.

Some times its worth a try to check with the state surplus office. I know here in MI the state auctions off all sorts of equipment like forestry type stuff -chippers. As with auctions sometimes you can find a 'dirty' diamond or a 'rock'. Check out the 'auto trader'type magazines for farm ,heavy/construction equipment there's usual some chippers forsale there.

I can vaguely remember my folks property tax bill back in the 50's -only county,township, school tax and streetlight charge(dad fought that one as we were quarter mile from the last light-we got no benefit). Now on my tax bill there are 13 line items -library debt, intermediate school district, senior tax,local communitycollege, ambulance svc, soldier relief (no one can explain it but there goes a dollar for that) and the list goes on. Too many little pots to throw the money at and it just spills past the pots openings into the bearacracy or there's very little oversight of these little programs. It's amazing to go the the local twnship and schoolboard mtgs and to see only 6-8 people at the twnship and maybe be the only one public person at the schoolboard mtgs. I heard about a meeting called the parent advisory board to the high school, original i thought okay mustbe appointed to be invovled -H***-found out it's an open forum for anyone to attend &go one on one with the principal-its amazing what info one can get there and bring concerns direct to bear -who shows up 1 maybe 3 parents that are already involved with their child-band, sports, etc. People need to break away form the "prime time idiot box(tv)" the media has gotten nearly evryone addicted to the slop being broadcast case point 'reality tv' what drivel.

My first tractor was a used 7274 serial#20946 with 417 FEL if I remember 730 hrs. For the 3 1/2 yrs I had it, it was a Good tractor, moved an immense amount of fill and top (result- pit 8'deep 20'wide by 40 long for fill) blew snow, brush hogd. When I bought from dealer(non cub) said he cover most minor problems first thirty days Had electrical trouble from gitgo. Battery cable had corroded internal back from battery connector.well that happen two weeks after purchase-dealer kept telling me is was the interlock-'wiggle the sticks', problem which even when everything was working order was a pain at times. Another problem encountered is near end of front axle housing where the axle trns dwnward (cant think of proper name) there are 6 bolts attach mine had the lower twoheads snapped off by previous owner (i didn't see when buying- no leaks or signs of) when it busted the remaining 4 bolt heads that was a $2k repair bill (pinion, ring etc etc.)from an authorized Cub dealer 40 miles away and my landscape project sat idle for 2 /1/2 months( Didn't have the facility and big tools and confidence/courage to do myself). The last problem developed and last straw(per wife and 'her' check book) was the starter, wouldn't start, check circuits had starter checked all okay working order got it to start and parked it, thats when wife took me shopping for brand New tractor and traded "ole yeller" for Blue w/warranty. As to the extra support for FEL I called Cub direct to get info and cost as dealer couldn't get it end summer of 2003 I was told no longer available for 7274, glad someone has a lead for supportbrackets and alternate source. I didn't find TP forum until I had just bought new tractor.

beagle- I too live in Mi, was hoping for seattime to "play" also this last 'snowfall' 6-8in. after I got home from work. But, my kind next country block neighbor came thru and blew out everyones drive (some200-500ft drives) [he's got big toys-8ft-10ftsnowblower, he told me all he has is 'toys'}. He's a very nice neighbor, kept us plowed out our first year in the place before I could start acquiring my own toys.

with chains on the front, steering dynamics put alot of side to side stress on the chain and you could windup with the chains ripping into the tire or worse. My brother runs his chains year 'round on the rears(turf tires) but then he has a few "nice slopes" (ha ha) to negoiate whilemowing. surprisingly he doesn't tear the turf actualy pulls up a little thatch at most.
