Mike,<br>I think the L3410 would make a fine mowing machine for your situation. I use an L3010 HST with Wood's RD7200 on the bigger part of 10 acres of grass. Twenty-five years ago this field was a cornfield. It was then bushhogged three or four times a summer for a few years, then more often for the next fourteen years with 8N and Woods M-5 cutter. Since last summer the RD7200 has been used weekly during the mowing season. It is not fine lawn but looks nice when mowed. The R4 industrial tires work fine. I have two wet spots spring till July and believe the turfs would spin on my hill. Ags would dig it up too much. R4's do tear up some on a hard turn this time of year, but I compensate by making wider turns. I have used the L3010 for two mowings last season and two so far this year and I like it just fine. Plenty of uphill mowing power in Lo or Mid range uphill and comfortable holdback downhill. Also use tractor to move snow, drag logs,and loader work. Turfs in the woodlot mud would not work out. The Kubota with R4's makes a wider but less deep rut than the 8N with ags. Hope this helps.<br>Vince <br>

Can any one tell me what I should be paying for a new Kioti LK 3054 (power steering), with a Hardy Model 30 Loader already installed? I'm concerned that at about 16,000, my dealer wants about a grand too much. Thanks, Vince.

I'm still considering a purchase of a compact. I've looked at the most popular, JD (4100), Kubtota (B1700/2100), etc. I've just now started searching the web to gather info on Kioti, probably the LK 2554, maybe the LK 3054. The prices seem MUCH MORE reasonable than the favorites: what gives? The majority opinion seems to suggest that these are is a good, reliable machine but that they lack creature comforts. I'd be greatful for your input on this issue and on some related issues. What is the warranty? What will a loader cost? Can these machines handle a mid-mount mower? I've seen no discussion of a plow blade or snowblower; will the machines noted above handle these and will they start in the upstate NY winter? Absent an invasion by the North Koreans, should I expect to be able to get parts? Thanks for your honest input.<br>

I'm thinking of buying a compact tractor, very likely a Kubota 1700 or 2100, but I'm having some troubling placing the price tag since I've paid less for NEW CARS (especially when accessories are added in)! I have 35 acres in Upstate NY. I'd use the tractor for finish mowing (2+ acres), landscaping, tilling, small hauling (garden supplies, rocks, gravel, snow clearing and some grounds maintenance. It would made my life so much easier, but neighbor and friends look at me like I have two heads when they learn the price (of course, they will be the ones knocking at my door for me to till their gardens). Do have to have $ to burn to buy one of these things? Is it a luxury? Should I look at as an investment? I mean damn, a dececent garden tractor costs at least $6,000.

Steve<br>I use a Wood's RD7200 to mow grass on parts of a 10 acre field between my house and my daughter's. A couple of hundred feet near each house and barn is mowed with a garden tractor; the biggest part in the middle is done with the RD7200. It does a nice job. I let it ride on the 4 wheels provided and also installed the optional roller kit for the front. I mow at about 4 inches and get no scalping. I check the deck bottom often and am surprised how little green build-up there is. I think the rear discharge deserves the credit for this. I mow at PTO speed as indicated on the proofmeter and tachometer (either 8N or Kubota L3010 HST). I keep ground speed low (about 4MPH) to save my back and all is well. Clippings distribute nicely in a thin flat carpet behind deck and are usually almost invisible unless grass gets a little high. I bought Wood's because I've had a Wood'a 5-m since 1971 and just last summer replaced bearings in gearbox..no other problems over the years with this brush cutter. Hope to keep these units for a long time and pass them to the next generation. Hope this helps!
