i am not a pro but have a tractor the same size as jd655 and would not put any back hoe on even with sub frame it is just to hard on machine i have had very good luck with self powered back hoes. they can dig better and faster with about half the cost if you do some of the work your self and you dont have to put extream wear onyour tractor. check out www.cadplans.com i built the 9 foot dig model it was very impressive for the size and money. good luck either way.

According to my bulk plant, there is no difference in the fuel. The red dye indicates tax exempt. I use it in all off road apps. Be careful of your storage method. I use a 30 gallon drum and have no problems. It takes me several months to use that much.

I sold my 5020 last year when I bought a Deere. It was an 87 model and I never had a bit of trouble. The paint was peeling but everything else was great. Had 650 hrs and it brought $4,200 with a king kutter finishing mover(5') and an atlas 4' box. Plenty of dealers around here for parts, Wish I had it back, it was paid for........good luck

Just a note to let everyone that the clutch shim kit that was installed seems to have done the trick. No more counting to three,,,,,, I worked the machine hard last weekend and all is going quite well. Now there is no more grinding than on any other gear shift that I have owned.

The price quoted for a new head sounds correct. Lowe's Tractor at (812)663-8928 should be able to supply you a reconditioned used head for half that price.

I took my 4300 collar shift to the shop Saturday morning, should be out next week. I'll post the results. I never had to count to three with my Allis Chambers and the JD is a lot more expensive machine.

I just looked at a 5' finishing mower with the Massey Ferguson name on it.It is a very well built unit at a fair price,$1500. Does anyone know who makes it for Ferguson? I've not seen another one quite like it.

It sounds like the bit on the auger is dull. When it gets rounded to the under side it will ride up like you describe. If it's not too bad you can sharpen it to a chisel edge with a side grinder. I've used one for years on an Allis Chambers and now a JD 4300. Neither have down pressure and it works great with a sharp bit.

I'm trying to mount the Woods 750BH on a JD 4300. The only sub-frame that Woods makes is for the new 7500BH. Can anyone give me an idea what modifications will need to be made to the 750BH in order to make it work with this sub-frame? The 750BH is working fine hanging on the 3ph but I would really like to get it to the subframe if possible.<br>Thanks

I owned a KK 5' for a few years and had no trouble except the side discharge will knock over a small tree if you are not looking. I cut a lot of rough stuff with it. I sold it with the last tractor and will buy a rear discharge this time just to get the clearence,lots of trees here.. If your place is fairly open the KK should do great.

Do plenty of study before you start. I would recommend going to a local irrigation supply house. Most will carry a complete line of drainage products and should be able to give you advice on pipe sizing, fittings, basins,etc. Do a plot plan to help lay out the work. The excavation will go a lot better if you will rent either a trencher or backhoe. Good Luck

I would like to find one myself. I have looked to no avail. The hp is truly there and if you needed more rpm just use the appropriate gear box.<br>I'll post if I run accross anything in the future

I've got a 4300 2wd that had to be in the shop one time for an adjustment to the shifter. It takes a little getting accustomed to after years of regular shifters but now at 220hrs I wouldn't trade it for anything else I've used. Try going to neutral in the gears before changing to another range. It works for me. You should be able to feel the position of each range. Good luck
