One thing about a wider mower is that the overhang works well in certain situations. Near drop offs is a good place, I don't like to get too close to an edge so the overhang helps. Underbushes, fence lines..

I probably should of explained the suckage a bit more... Since I just cleaned it up and used it for the first time this year it brought back memories of last year and why I went and bought a new handheld weed eater...

My unit is just about NEW it has a power starter, tach, battery charger, beaver cutter, and bulb digger... so I went pretty much all out when I bought it. I have over 100 fruit trees and a lot of pasture fencing to cut around. There are no issues with starting as most of the time it starts up pretty good with the electric starter and the power is good I don't remember the horses on it but I think it is around 5hp. Make sure you power down around areas that can't take a beating.. they do spin a mean line. One thing to note about all this.. I don't live on flat land...

Here are my complaints:

1. To change oil you have to remove half the bottom to get to a plug.

2. If you hit a small bramble or tree 3/4 to 1 inch the line gets ripped out many times.

3. If the line breaks off in the ball it is hell trying to get the remaining out.

4. It does suck down gas.

5. The locking device to hold the wheels at an angle keeps disengaging causing the unit to go into a different angle instead of straight.

6. Pushing the unint around a tree or post is a pain as with a handheld you just reach around.

7. Pushing up hills is almost a impossible mission not only the weight but balancing the ball so it doesn't press against the ground making it hard to push.

8. Pushing sideways on the hill causes oil to get in the carb making a great bug smoke out.

9. Pushing the darn thing all over 15 acreas.... bring the gas can with you and extra line.

10. I am trying to think of one more thing so I can make this a top ten list........ Oh..yea.. my wife and her mom.. my "Mother In-law" bought this together as a fathers day present... Mother In-Law thought she would use it too that's why it has the electric start.. well nither wife or mother will use it as it is a pain for them to push around.

You might get a better price but will you get better service. If something breaks will you have to go way out of your way when the local dealer would of taken care of you just because you are " HIS CUSTOMER !"

The one thing about a TC33 with SS compared to a TC40 with SS is that your TC40 will stand higher making it a challenge if you have trees that need mowing under. However, if you have a push mower or a ZTR or whatever you have been using to cut under the trees or around the trees a TC40 with SS is a GREAT DEAL. Another thing about a TC40 compared to a TC33... Your garage ceiling or door needs to be a bit higer to accomadate the ROP unless you fold it evertime you go into park it or have a nice size door to enter. With 15 ac pasture, trees, large driveway and yard "That looks like a golf course" the TC33 has done well... I tested the heck out of a TC40 and wanted one pretty bad until I tried to make it a combination lawn mower and compact util unit. The TC33 allows you to go around trees without having to buy a ZTR or push mower. Maybe a weedeater here and there.. I am sure a JD would be nice.. but the Super Steer you can't beat!! Can't tell you how nice it is to go into the woods and zip around the trees!

I tested the 33 and 35. The 35 was a underpowered with only two more horses than the 33 sitting in a large frame. The 33 with SS is perfect for moving around trees and around the pasture. If you plan on doing any yard cutting around trees.. the 33 is a perfect match as the size allows manuvering around the yard ... and plenty of power to cut the fields and brush...
