Just want to say that that I was very un happy with my 4400 when I got it in Jan. but 1 e-mail to JD (from they're web site) and one to my dealer saying that I was glad that I financed the tractor through deere becouse if they didn't fix the axle then they could have it back! Untill then it was the same old story, " never heard of the scuffing problem" in truth My dealer said that my 4400 was thhe first one they changed and had a 4500 to do but that was the only two the have done. I love my 4400 now and still don't regret buying it and am very hapy with my dealer. as faar as improvements, the pedals could be easier and the SCV leveer is still in the way but not a real problem.I would be glad to anwser any ? if you have any.i'd still go green they now have it together just apply more pressure on the dealer.

yea they replaced the axle, the pump and the steering valve, they didn't know that untill they looked in the crate, but all is well now, my blood is once again green.

Just my opinion: the JD belly mower is really!!!!!!! worth the 1000 or so extra dollars,I''ve had the 72" belly mower just this season and it does a much neater job I think it is because of the gauge wheel placement. I had the Landpride 72" finish mower for three seasons and it was not easier to put on or use the price is the only reason that I can see getting the Landpride, and I think that it isn't enough. I wish I could get all the good stuff that you are getting that is the only thing that I would change in your order. Oh one more thing, make sure you put a piece of rubber belting on the inside of the rear door on the 660 tiller, to protect it from dents, I didn't do it to mine and it really looks like hell with about 10 hours on it.

Im thinking about a "Freedom hitch" to use on my implements becouse I can change the implements 4,5 even 6 times a day and that gets old. I think a freedom hitch would make it easy enough to mak it worth the money. Remember work smart not hard!

I am glad to hear that the brackt mod on the front worked and I also want'd to try that . Then did you use the rear holes in the rear bracket? wouldnt it be nice if the tires were a little wider and mounted with a little less offset?

I've had the same problem with my 4400 430 now when I disconnect I shut off the tractor and relive the pressure before I disconnect the hoses and now it is very easy to hook back up.this may not work on all tractors but the angle on the deere when parked does'nt leave alot of pressure on the lift circuit and the bucket can't res on the cutting edge becouse that creats pressure on that circuit. Other wise you can hit the male end on somthing to push in the center and relive it that way.

I had the same problem with my 4400, it was in the neutral safty switch in the pedals a pain to get at but just an adjustment

I think that a good stabilizer is to load the tires the load is as low to the ground andas wide as possible.I can tell you from experiance that on a 955 with this setup in almost all conditions with this setup the machine will slide sidways down the slope before it gets light on one side. I should tell you that I have run alot of equipment on highway construction projects and shaped alot of slopes and so I think I can safely find the limit on slopes.

Mike, I blow about 800 ft. with three areas about 50 x50.I have a 4400 that has a 35 pto and a rear mount 6' lorenz blower,works great! but the blower will be mounted on the front nex year I aam having a gear box built to use the mid pto to run the blower. hydro is the only way to go.I had a955 with a 59" JD blower before and it was ok (not wide enough,shute did'nt have enough turning deg.)tryed a 1070 with a 7' eriskine blower on the front great machine but not hydro. Also had a 18HP honda with a 4' blower on it but it wasn't enough. If you are going to do areas that have you backing up alot the hydro works better and in area with drifting you can vary your speed to keep the tractor loaded, you are always in the right gear.the gear box is about 350 so the cost of the blower is still 1000 less than the JD. Hope I helped.

You can front mount any rear mount blower if you have a mid pto that turns 2100 with a gear box that you can mount on the blower. I got a price on a box that will handle this that is compact and would simplify hookup. I need more people to to make the price affordable,I'm Mounting a 6' lorenze to the front of a 4400 .

You can mount a rear mount on the front with a gear box to reduce the speed of the mid mount pto I got a quote fo the box of 350, but in quantity anyonre interested?

I got a price of 350 for a gear box to do the reduction on the blower I think it is a good price but i need to sell a quite a few to get that price. Anyone interested in the box? this configuration would be lighter and more compact than a "drop box" If the ability to make it quick to hook up would be easyer on the front. My neighbor had a 1070 with a 7' Eriskine Blower on it worked very well but the pto stuck out the back quite a ways before it droped down to go to the front.

I got a 4400 with 10 hours on it now with the same thing, seen a 4300 on the lot ,same thing . I don't think there is a problem though these are a loose fit between the front axle and the rear. just my thouhgts.

I tried the turning on crusty packed snow,witch showed the tire tracks in full depth and there seemed to be no noticeable tire scuffing. I know it wasn't built before 12 11 becouse there is tags on the wiring dated after that.I'd like to see the four major brands compared in turning radius, I'm sure this one turns sharper than my 955 did.

I couldn't agree more with you more, people with some idea and a welder can make a mess of things but If a situation is studied enough and the person is comfotable enough with their ability they should try things , a mind is a terrible thing to waste. with the cost of some things you can make two things yourself for the price of one. just take your time to understand how the thing works and why others built theirs that way and go from there,alot of manufactured items,IMHO,ecspecialy short line stuff are,"universal" wich IMHO means won't fit anything realy well and can be improved on but are a good place to start.
Case in point, JD loaders are a well built design but I like the Cub's quick hitch better. A blend of the two would be perfect.

I just sold a 97 955 that I made forks, for they look like factory.I used all new iron and I spent about$200. I also made it quick-tach by cutting off the brackets that hold the bucket, so all the geometry stayed the same. I used 4" channel with 11/2angle iron welded underneath, then tapered the last 2 feet and used 3" square tubing for the uprights never a problem but I don't know if I wou;ld try it on a420-440 loader or not,the carriage was easy but I'll probably buy fork blanks this time then I know my 4400 won't have to much power for it.
