I have just resently become familiar with the Kioti. The closest dealer is about 70 miles away, but I go in that direction at least twice a month. I stopped a coulpe of weeks ago after hours and look from outside the fence. Most of the time when I go past it is after hours and there closed. The other day it was eairly in the day so I stopped and talked to them. I have been wanting to get a tractor for some time. Now for my main concern, parts avalability. I'm not to concerend that the nearest dealer for service is 70 miles away. But I am concerend with the avalabilty of parts, has anyone had any problem with parts avalability. Now for a coment on pricing. My dealer quoted my a selling price of $18,500 for a LK3504 with loader. He also quoted me a price of $ 12,800 for the LB1914. He told me what the SRP's were, they were somewhat higher than his selling prices. After doing some searching I have found that his selling prices seem to be higher than what most of you have been paying for the same or similer unit. I'm looking to buy a unit to be used in construction, moving mostly dirt and rock. I will probably also get the back hoe attachment. I like the idea of the LK1914 due to its size. Being small and compact I think it could get into a lot of smaller areas that a larger unit or full size back hoe could not get into. However I'm concerned with it's weight, it is a little on the little side and I've used some light weight units before and most of them just don't cut it. I'd like to hear for people who use theres for similer uses. I don't want to spend all this money and find out three or four years from now that I'm wearing the unit out because it's to small. I would rather get a larger unit to get that longer life expectancy.

The cylinder speed of a log splitter is related to two things 1) the capacity of the hydraulic pump on your tractor and the diameter of the cylinder. A smaller cylinder will travel faster but it will exert less force on the log to besplit. You could use an auxilary pump attached to the tractor pto to run the splitter and then you could increase the capacity to that of the tractors pto hp. I suggest you contact a hydraulics supply house and get a copy of "fluid power data book" published by womack educational publications (214) 357-3871. this book is cheap, about $ 1.00, and has a lot of usefull charts and information.

I am looking for a flail mower that can run on Hydrolic power, 8 GPM @ 2000 PSI. The unit should be small about 42 to 48 inches wide. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes such an inpliment?

Out here in southern california you see water jugs on a lot of tractors but the operator has to use some commonsence about when to take a drink. Personnaly I would not use a machine that I could not keep my water close by. You can make cup holders out of PVC pipe or you can go to a boat store and get some real nice ones that will not spill your drink even if you have to use the ROPS.

I would also like to see a copy of this report. Is there any other specifcations that are used in the rest of the world? The information that I have on three point specifications states that Cat 0 is for less that 20 HP and Cat 1 is for 20-45 HP. The BX is rated at 18 or 22 HP depending on the version. But I have seen this type of hybrid hitch on other compact tractors in the past. Please Post this report or provide a link to a site were I can read it.

Here in california we just call Dig-Alert and they will come out and mark the utilities that are of record but they cannot mark the 12" irrigation lines or sprinkler lines that are are my property so I have to be carefull when I do any excavation

How do I remove ivy that has been growing in an area for many years with out disturbing the irrigation lines that are under it. The ivy has very heavy roots about 1" dia and the area is only about 35 feet wide and 100 feet long. there are also several trees in this area that are to remain. doing it by had is not fun. any ideas?

I have been reading these posts for a while, wondering if I am the only one who wants a Compact Tractor to use on Five Acres of ground. I was wondering if the webmaster could start a poll or if we could use this thread to tell the rest of us how many acres each of us maintain with what size tractor and the chores you depend on it for. Mike, I don't have an air compressor, but have thought that one would be great to have for years. And with these conversations, I think I will finally get one.

One thing though I did not know the difference between Oil and Oil-less. I checked out Campbell-hausfled's site last night and the offer both types.

Is Campbell-hausfeld an OK brand to buy?

My opinion is that I am sure that Kubota has done a top notch job here, and that the 4wd will certainly make it the best machine to buy over a garden tractor, I still think any compact buyer would be better off spending their money on the larger B series machines or any other color Compact rather than the subcompact. The fact is that people buy these machines and have an expectation that if they need to rent a tiller or harley rake or overseeder or some other very heavy implement that their huge investment will handle it. I think the BX will fall way short in this regard. But if you have no such intention then I think you will be happy with the BX as the Cadillac of GT genre, used for mowing and general promenading around the neighborhood.

Has anyone with either a Rear Blade or a Rear Blower tried rigging up a mirror so that they would not have to turn around all the time when driving backwards, or is this just too dangerous or awkward?

Paul... I know the feeling... I too have this neat new TC29D and no snow to play... er... work in. You certainly got a good price! I went thru pretty much the same decision process as you (except the "orange" dealer seemed OK). So far so good with mine - hope yours is the same.

Burgie... This'll prbly set off a firestorm here... I got my new TC29D too late in the season to do any serious mowing, but it'll definitely make black marks on concrete (low speed) when turning at full lock, so I imagine it would damage turf too. I got mine without supersteer, so it has a very short wheelbase, just like the JD 4XXX series. I suspect the dirtly little secret is that this behavior is typical of any of the compacts. (Plus, my old Ford 8N did it too!) I expect you'll get other responses. My basic opinion is that if it's fine finish mowing you're after, you might do better looking at specific-purpose mowers.

Kimball... Not an answer to your real question, but I remember from my years of growing up on a farm that sickle mowers are (1) *very* labor intensive (lots of vibrating parts wanting to come loose, plus sharpening takes lots of time and patience), and (2) subject to immediate, dramatic failure if the sickle hits a rock, stump, etc. Now that I have my own few acres of grass to keep down, I use a bush-hog-type rotary in the rough stuff and a riding mower around the house.
