I'd proceed with caution. Sounds like your looking at a grey market machine and parts can be down right impossible to find. I know, I had one for three years. 15hp is also pretty small, depending on what your going to do with it. The other thing is if you ever what to resell tractor the market is poor at best. I could not sell mine and ended up trading in back in to the guy I bought it from for a used CUB. Regards, PJ

I have a 7275 and its a geat tractor. Your price with all the equipment sure seems fair to me. Just check new prices with all those features and see what you come up with. I'd love to have that heated cab here in MN the last couple days. I have not found parts to be a problem but I only have needed filters etc. Regards PJ

I saw this thread after everything appears fixed, but it would appear you need the service manual on your tractor. I have a 7275 and when I bought it it had no manuals. Owners manual was 8.00 and Factory Service manual(its huge and covers everything) was only 30.00. I was frankly shocked how cheap these were through my IH dealer. I'd highly reccomend you get them, should help you with alot of questions.

I like the lock idea or stands possibly. I should clarify this is a rare occurance rather than the norm. I usually leave blade outside but if its late and Ive been pushing snow all night and will have to in the morning again I'll leave blade on and then I run into problem. The other option is just remove the blade everytime which is not really a big deal. Thanks for the thoughts. The good news is only one snow storm so far this year. PJ Drew

Most people should have their tractors specifically endorsed and they are normalled settled on a Actual Cash Value (market value) only. If you have a compact tractor, your likely to have a farm or habby farm insurance policy. A few home owner policy's will cover tractors as regular contents but you better double check with your agent for sure. This piece of equipment is not something a typical homeowner's has. Also most policys state that motorized vehicles or machines(which your 4100 is) are covered only when used "solely for the service of the insured premises and not liscense for road use". Non-paid work off premises is still off premises. Whether you get paid or not may make little difference and you run the risk of no coverage in a claim situation. Again, I would stress verifiying how this is covered with your agent and make sure you document what he tells you. In case of problems down the road. Regards PJ Drew

Sounds like good prices and a couple of good choices. You mentioned that the TC was at your local IH dealer. I really value a good dealer and if they are decent to work with, that is worth a lot. My local IH dealer only carries the lawn tractor Cubs but can get any part for my Cub 7275 and they has been really helpful with filters etc. I have 3 horses and 3 mules and a small acreage and have found the tractor invaluable. We just got under 30" of snow this week and the Cub with loader, blade and blower can handle this no problem. (Just don't let your wife know how much fun your having) The other good news is that most of these tractors hold their value very well and the cost to operate them over the years is very little. My Cub is likely worth as much or more today than I paid for it. Regards PJ Drew

Funny, I did this project last night. I used squared U bolts and a flat piece of steel with holes in it. I used this last year and it works pretty well. I mounted 2 halogen driving lights forward facing(Work great for loader work) and 1 in the middle facing backward(for snowblower). I put switches on the forward lights and reverse one. I did not want to drill or change ROPS. Last year I had lights mounted on top of ROPS and they would get caught in low tree branches. So this year I mounted lights under ROPS bar and they still are a good placement and not exposed to trees. This system may not be the prettiest looking but very few people see me blowing snow at night anyway.

Thanks, I think I will try it before the snow flies. I live in Minnesota, so I use the loader a lot for snow removal and I think I'll try the paint and wax treatment to bucket too. Makes sense to me. SO far its been great weather and not a snow flake to be seen.

I have a Cub 7275 and have a lower hose heater and it works very well for me. I installed myself and cost was under 20.00. I have never had a problem with leaks. I use a heavy duty timer and the night before I need the tractor, I set it to come on in middle of night and in morning trator is warm and ready to go. The hydro oil is cold for a few minutes when below zero but that doesn't take long to warm up either.

My brother had a larger AGCO(85hp) and finally traded it off, he bought it new and had 5 years. Lots of trouble with it and parts as indicated, were unbelievable (wiper blade was $29.00). You couldn't use anything but there stuff and had to wait for weeks sometimes. It seemed everything had to get shipped from overseas. He had about 3500 hours and put in 3 clutches, plus a lot of other stuff. I'd really check into this tractor before I would buy.

I got my Cub 96' 7275 with 700 hrs for 11,800. 9000 for tractor and 2800 for new Koyker loader. I thought it was a heck of a deal. It had been used mainly for mowing and was in excellent condition. I looked at green and orange tractors in my area and couldn't come close to that price for same size tractor with similar features. (I also looked for a few months:) Most of what I saw I liked was 15,000+. Just couldn't sell my wife on those numbers but the Cub I could. Its a great machine. Regards PJ Drew

I'll give you my 2 cents. I owned a Shibuara SD1840 for 4 years. It was a very good tractor and I never had any problems with it. However,I traded in for a used Cab Cadet 7275 this last year. OK why?. Well the greys are good tractors low hours etc, but parts (and can you really get them) became a big concern for me. Yanmar has by far the best network for getting parts but they still are not US tractors(they did sell in US for a while in 80s)and the numbers which you have listed may be tough to get parts for. You may also want to consider resale value as well. I did try to sell my Shibuara on my own but could not move it. People were scared off by the unknown brand. Shibuara make Fords but most parts are not interchangable as some would lead you to believe. I know, I did the research(and lots of it) AFTER I bought mine. The good news is that for the most part these tractors run great and I think you will find very few people that own one really haven't ever many problems with them.
Personally, I ended up trading it back into the guy I bought it from for the CUB because I needed a bigger tractor and the bigger greys just weren't that much cheaper than a domestic when you came right down to it. Plus, I wanted power steering, hydro etc. Most smaller greys dont'have that. Depending on how much money your talking on these tracotrs your looking at, you might find a excellent late model domestic compact for not that much more money. Any other questions let me know.

I have a King Kutter 60" side discharge. I have had if for 5 years and it works excellent. Paid 850.00. Only costs are new belt($18) and blades($30) every year. I think they are worth a look if sold in your area. Yellow color also matches my Cub:)

I live in Minnesota and have a block heater on my Cub 7275. I use it all the time and would not be without one. Diesels CAN start in cold but its so much easier on them if they are warm up first. I have an outside timer on electrical cord and it comes in early in am and tractor ready to go when I am. I have not had any trouble with hydro unless super cold. 20 below stuff. Then just stiff for a few minutes. We have had tons of snow this year and tractor and loader (Have a 7' Lorenz blower too) have been a huge asset. Just ask my neighbors!

To bad about the dealer in your area. Mine is 15 miles a way and excellent. I wasn't sure about the Cub's before I bought this one but knew the dealer was a good one so I decided to get it. I have gotten the manuals and just some filters from them, but the parts people are great. They have to spend a little more time looking because they don't sell the Cub compacts only the Boomers new there. Goes to show you how important a good dealer is.

I bought the 7275 I was looking at for 11,800. It had 700hrs with a new Koyker 150 loader. The tractor is in very good condition and so far I am thrill with what it will do. I think I got a really good deal but hard to say. I didn't see alot of Cub's around my area but I couldn't pas up based on price. The IH dealer in my town carries parts and thats the big reason I when with the Cub. They are really nice people. Love that Hydro. My old compact was a gear drive with no live power so big difference.
