Problem Solved !! Earthwrks gets the prize !! The dealer gave me a new sending unit to replace the original. When I went to remove the positive (orange) wire to the unit, the round tab that connects the wire came off in my hand!!!! I removed the black shrink wrap from the round tab and found that the wire had never been stripped and the tab had not been crimped. I stripped the wire end...touched the wire to the unit and the gauge worked perfectly. Apparently some assembler had a bad day.
Thanks for the replies!! Now I can start enjoying my new Deere.

Can anyone tell me if a 2305 would handle a Puma 64" 2 stage blower? It weighs 382lbs. Would I be stretching it's limits or would I be better off with a 2520 or 2320 to handle this type of applciation?<br>

Thanks for the reponses! Dennis when you say "too big" ar eyou referring to physical size or weight or both. Weight was one reason why I may lean toward the B3030 Kubota as it weighs about 600lbs less than the DX29. However the Dx29 has a 2" shorter wheelbase. My soil is normally quite dry having good drainage. I live on top of a hill so wet, soft soil is not really an issue. I have had the theory that I should get the "smallest tractor" that would still spin a 64" rear snowblower. In my mind that would provide the best cut quality. However, like "Iowafun's" experience, I have heard of other owners who have great luck mowing with a larger style tractor.

I am trying to decide which will suit me best. I will be using the tractor for snowblowing,lawn mowing and occcasional brush cutting only. The snowblower will be a 5 ft 3 pt hitch with a hyraulic chute. My dealer quoted me about a $900. difference between the two. Considering my applications, will the larger engine make enough of a difference to justify the extra cost? It's not about the $$$, I just don't want to pay for something that I don't need. On the other hand, the extra $$$ is nothing if I am sorry I didn't opt for the larger HP. I am ready to make the purchase within the week. Any real life experience with either of these tractors would be greatly appreciated.<br>

PS - I have been a diehard Deere fan. In my opinion, their products keep getting more expensive while quality keeps going downhill. <br>

I am looking at a '99 7305 with 441 hours to possibly purchase. It appears to be in good working condition. It has a 60" deck as the only option. I have been a "green" guy so I have no knowledge of Cadet. If anyone could comment on durability, reliability etc. of this particular unit or performance that can be expected It would be greatly appreciated. I plan on using it to power a rear mounted snowblower and some occasional brush cutting.

Any experience with a 7305

I am looking to downsize to a smaller 4wd unit that better suits my needs. I have a L3010 GST with 376 hours. The tractor has Industrial tires. Attachments include a Woods 1016 FEL and a SMYTH 78 three point snowblower with manual chute. I get conflicting reports on what it's cash value actually is. I understand the "find the right person to buy brings more $$" concept. I am just trying to get a "real world" bottom line on what this unit would bring on a trade. Not inflated, but real dollars. Any actual experience or insight would be helpful as I am looking to make a switch asap and this info will help me decide on budgeting for a new tractor. <br>

Woods FEL, Bush Hog 60" field Cutter, Rear 60" 2 stage snowblower. He is motivated to sell. I don't want to offend him by a low ball offer, but I also want to get unit for a realistic price. I am seeing the attractive deals on new units. I don't want to pay a premium when I can buy a new unit for a few grand more, if indeed that's the case. Any opinions would be appreciated as I'm ready to make an offer this weekend.<br>

Thanks for the insight! I verified through the serial # that it is a 1987 model. It does have MFWD and the three point hitch. The plow blade has hydraulic angle along with the up/down mode. At one time it had a belly mower so it does have the mid pto.

Is there anything to be concerned about with the 2700 hrs?

I have never owned a diesel before. Always had the V-Twin Kawasaki's in my previous Deeres. My current ride is an X575. I plan to keep it as it is perfect for mowing. It just doesn't have the physical size/weight to handle the drifting on my 900' paved driveway. I thought the 755 with almost double the weight would be more appropriate.

Also what size rear snowblower would this machine at 15pto hp handle? Any suggestions?

I am considering upgrading from an X575 with 47" 2-stage blower and 62" mmm to either a 4115 or 4210. My 575 doesn't have the weight to handle the 3-4' drifts in my 900' paved driveway. The mowing quality is excellent however. I just tried out a 4210 with a frontier 5' rear discharge. The time to mow and the cut quality didn't seem to match my 575 (although it was my 1st time using a RFM). These 2 tractors are so close in price that it is difficult to decide. Money is not the issue, I just don't want to be dissappointed by the mowing performance not matching that of my 575. I will only use machine for finish mowing, occasional brush clearing and snow blowing.<br>
Any advice on what machine will be the best match is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jim ! The more I delve into this, the more I'm realizing your point about the "real" cost of the 595. Although I really don't want 2 machines, I'm coming to the realization that I may be better off getting a X575 to mow and blow. Then look for a "used" real farm tractor for the other chores. I live next door to a farmer who has 6 Fords. Ranging from a 3600 to a 7710. He has explained to me several times about matching proper HP with implement. I have sat down with my wife (she's the gardener) to discuss what we would use on the 3ph and PTO. After serious thought, we realized probably nothing. Someone on the board made an excellent point about a portable wood chipper for a grand vs an attachment for twice the price. What I have failed to mention earlier is I already have a new 47" JD blower which I purchased last year but have used only once due to the mild winter in our area last year. Since that is already bought and paid for, that is why I'm sticking with my Deere dealer. He said he would swap the front mount for $ 0. when I purchased the new unit. At $ 2800 for the blower, I don't feel like taking the proverbial bath that a blur or orange dealer would give me. New or otherwise.

Mark......I have a '98 325 with 17hp single kawasaki. 48" deck. It has 250hrs and is in "new condiition" My dealer is allowing me $ 3,700. on a trade for a new X585. Taken care of, they do hold their value. Have you checked with a dealer on a new machine? The price for a comparable new machine may not be that much more than what your looking at.
