Is there a good way to tell if you are overloading your front end loader? I was moving some hardwood and I wasn't sure how much weight I had in there. Are there signs I should look for before something breaks. I figure it is designed for a load of dirt but other things like rock or wood could push it to its limit.

I have lived in the Grand Rapids,MI. area all my life. This whole area is called West Michigan. True, a lot of manufacturing jobs have left but there are still a lot around. They are more technical now, meaning the avarage worker must know about computer controlled equipment. Just when I think it is getting hopeless here because of another plant closing, I read about another company expanding. Economies always change, and we have some smart people here who can get it done. As for land prices, I just saw some 10 acre parcels going for 49k. Oh, and did I mention we have water, lots of it.

I wrote Paypal and sent them the email and they said they did not know the origin of the email asking for my password, so they couldn't do anything about it. I see this as no different than someone walking up to me on the street and trying to rob me of my credit card. If they don't get it the crime didn't happen?

I have a JD 4310 32hp. I use it for the same purposes you say. It is a hydro, no shifting. I say once you go hydro you'll never go back to manual. For landscaping around the house in tight places it's nice, especially for a beginner like me, one hand on the steering the other on the loader control and the feet do the forward, reverse and stopping. I don't know what you're paying for a 60hp, but my 32hp gets my half mile drive maintenance done no problem.

I went with Heatmore because the floor of the fire box is a grate with sand around the edges with 1 row of fire brick. The ashes fall through the grate and you auger them out the back, auger included. Mine came with a water circulating pump, although my dealer said he buys extra good ones.

I have a 5 foot box blade on my 4310. I like to keep things even with the width of the tractor. I get into a lot of tight places and if I'm not paying attention it's easy to get hooked and tear things up.

I have a JD 4310. I installed 2 kits for rear hydraulics. One was a power beyond for a backhoe and the other was a single valve for operating a single rear cylider. The single valve comes with an extra lever mounted next to the 3 point hitch lever. Each kit cost around $200. I haven't used the single valve yet but I assumed it was for an application such as yours.

I had a modular put in last year. A plumber did all the drain work in the basement. He did not hook up to all the pipe that was in the house when it was built at the factory. He capped two pipes in the basement that were connected to the vent. I don't think he knew where they went and he really didn't care. They eventually filled up with water from rain or condensation and started leaking through the joints on to the wall and floor. I had him come back and we figured out we didn't need those two pipes and cut them off from the vent, which solved the leaking problem. My point is, find out where the pipes go and if they are being used properly. Sometimes the factory and the plumber have different ways to do things.

That is what I use my JD4310 for, touch up. It will grade smooth what the dozer leaves a mess. All you need to do is look at your tractor parked next to a bulldozer and you'll realize where in the scheme of things it will be best used. Even at $100 per hour it's a bargan with the amount of work this heavy equipment can do, and you won't be over working your tractor. I had a lot of trees to move while making a road and the dozer just pushes them over.

The tiller does sound like the way to go when you consider making 1 pass compared to 8 passes. I also read in another post that the tractor runs cooler with a tiller. Only going down 4 to 5 inches makes good sense too. How should I pack down the soil after planting? Another post I read said you shouldn't drive over it to much or it will pack to tight.

The box blade for my 4310 was the most inexpensive attachment so far, and the most useful! Good luck getting approval for the 4 figure attachments. Sooner or later you will not only want them you'll NEED em.

I've posted a couple of pictures of the PD backhoe with the Woods subframe on it. It mounts real easy but the 3 point hardware has to come off first. Using the hydraulics on the backhoe you just lift the frame in place and then pin it. My PD came all assembled except for the ends on the hydraulic hoses and I had to put the bucket on. I'm still working on the seat problem, it's on a slight tilt to keep it off that hose bracket! I am very impressed with the hoe so far. With a little digging first it rips out my 6 inch diameter trees like pulling weeds. It does have the power I expected.

I had to improve the two track to my property to build my house last fall; $16,000 worth. The county spec's were grub, grade, and gravel; 28 ft wide cleared, with 12 inches sand and 6 inches gravel 12 ft wide. I had 2000 running ft. Grubbing was tearing out trees and stumps. That was half the cost. You will save a lot not doing that. A large backhoe would dig a few scoops around the stump and then push the tree over, using the weight of the tree to pull the stump loose. I followed him with a chain saw and cut the stump loose and he pushed it to the side. A dozer was then used to grade the road to a nice even flow, no dips and small hills taken down a bit. Where I live it was all sand, wow! Saved about $5000. The gravel was about $8000. including the dozer to spread it, which was the best way to go. He got a nice crown in the center to shed water. In a few water problem spots we plowed out a small catch basin next to the road. Our cars packed it down just fine. Four other neighbors on the road enjoyed the fix up. The first few months I graded it with my JD and box blade. Now its staying smooth and solid. A good road gravel will go a long way; some clay in it helps for packing. In front of the garage I used Dolomite. It packs like cement, but spread it thin, it doesn't go a long way. One more thing to consider; another attachment I treasure is my snowplow blade for my JD, since it's up to us to keep the road plowed in the Michigan winter!
