Reminder to also keep and eye out for depressions in the ground. You can really get surprised if a front wheel drops into a depression regardless of how low the loader is.

I am new to this so please forgive me if this is not an appropriate question. I am looking for specifications on used John Deere tractors--models such as the 2640, for example. In particular I'd like to know horse power. Is there one location on the web that summarizes this information for past models of John Deere tractors? I thought Deere's web-site might but it seems to only offer specs for current models.<br>

The touch control for 3-point lift is very stiff canot feather when using rear blade have returned machine to dealer was told i would have to live with it didnt try machine prior to purchase any one else had this problem <br>

I bought a Trac-vac a couple of years ago..5hp engine. It attaches to the 3pt and discharge side of the mower deck. I mainly use it the spring when the grass grows like crazy. However when I drove across the driveway it sucked up loose pieces of blacktop and road stones. It has two 44gal rubbermaid barrels for "stuff". They do have a web site.

I own a 2001 4200, although I do not do any mowing with it. I mostly do hoe and loader work. I did take a look at the implement compatibility sheet for the 4200. At least on a 2001 model the 413 rotary cutter and the 72" mid-mount mower are compatible. The tire sizes that are recommended for this tractor (4WD) are as follows: Rear: R1 Bar tires- 12.4-16; R3 Turf Tires- 13.6-16; R4 Industrial Tires- 14.00-17.5 and for the Front: R1 bar Tires- 7.00-12; R3 Turf Tires- 25 X 8.50-14; R4 Industrial Tires- 23 X 8.50-12. Not sure if this of any help; but it all that I could come up with. Good Luck !

I have about 115 hours on my 4200, do lots of loader and hoe work with it. Noticed a slight clicking around the right hub around 80 hours. Mostly noticeable when carrying load. Dealer pulled bearing and found it too be faulty. JD replacements are all on backorder across the country. This bearing has been being replaced on others as well. May want to keep an eye/ear out for it on your machines.

hey guys maybe its to soon or maybe i posted my ?? wrong . I`m still looking at the JD 4600 or the 4500 tractor. do these larger tractors in the 4000 seris have the same scuffing and quality control problems that the other tractors in this seris seem to have? as a auto tech I've seen several new car intros suffer birthing problems in the last 30 years and have learned to wait and see what the manufactor does befor bringing out the tar and feathers!as stated by several dealers at this site this conld cost J D up to 3k per unit there not going to rush out and spend this and then find out opp's thats not it. just my 2 cents on the problems with this new product.<br> now back to my ?? is 17500 a good price for 4600 4wd with 4 hole valve,forp, power reverse 12/12 trans,ag tires. or shoud i go back to the orange machine that appears to have no problems?? <br> dont want to start the" mines better" debate again but imho the green machine had more operator room easier controls was heavier built and i like the fully independent pto (on or off period )<br> There seem to be several very knowledgeable people at this board and i appreciate any help with this desisuion i can get.<br> thanks jerry

I'm new to the web and this site so bear with me , I have just closed on a old ,overgrown 24 acre farm . after looking at all " colors" i had decided a jd 4300 would be fine for future taskof revamp and maintaining this farm ( for horses) Then I started reading more about the problems JD apears to be haveing with this unit and looking at what all I wanted to do and came to the conclusion that bigger is better so heres my ??? I can get a 4600 4wd w/ag tires 12/12 power reverser trans fold over roll bar and 4-hole valve for$ 17.500.00 seems like a good price but does this larger tractor scuff the ground like the smaller (4200-4400) version? I plan a total replanting of approx 18 acres into horse frindly grasses and dont want to replow every time I cut it in the future. I can get a 5210 for 14500.00 but dont think i want this large a frame tractor but would it be better suitied for general farm work (no haying) ?also i would like to here from any 4600 owners about the likes and dislikes of this tractor. <br> thanks in advance jerry<br>

Russell Just go look at both tractors you'll know the New Holland is the right decission, Kobota didn't quit making that model for nothin' A 1960 model looked the same!!! New Holand is much more user friendly.

Making extra money is great, but remember one important thing, LIABILITY, when you buy a backhoe just remember to call Diggers Hot Line or who ever it is in your area, because when you cut just one fiber optic cable it's going to cost you alot more then that 790 did!! Insurance is the only answer, and by the time you pay for that, it takes the fun out of it!!!!That's why contractors charge so much. Don't get me wrong I've got all the toys for my NH TC25D but I'm very careful who and where I work!

does any one know what a 1996 year model,with 35 hours and bush hog,with extra weights might sell for?I have read that this tractor has a loader capability.<br>that you can use as a lift with attachments.is the 1996 model too old to have this,or do I not know what i`m looking at?also it says it has a front pto.I am tractor dumb.my sons father in law has been dead for over a year,with the tractor setting.can buy for $7,500.00 is this a good deal?thanks<br>Jerry

Good choice! I would go with a TC25D, because they,re the same tractor with the Tc29D having 300 more RPM's that,s how they get 4 more HP! The 33 is also the same tractor with a different crankshaft. Now I bought mine for 14700.00, but without hyd hookups,that was about 1100.00 more, but then I got the loader for 2750.00, you pay for the hyds either way, with the loader (3250.00) or if you have <br>them installed on the tractor. Also if you buy a NH Loader, make sure you get the heavy duty bucket,it's only 50.00 more. <br> I hope your not confused but I'm a mechanic and I decided not to pay an extra<br>500.00-1000.00 for 4HP(29D) when I can turn up the engine RPMs and get the same results, Although I haven't found anything that the 25 can't handle and won't be messing with anything until well after the 3yr warrenty expires!!
